Can Someone Else Freeze My Pluang Account?

Anyone holding both your PIN and your OTP can freeze your account, because those two things are exactly what the freeze flow requires. This is why Pluang's standing guidance is never to share your PIN or any OTP with anyone — not with family, not with someone claiming to be Pluang staff, and not with anyone who contacts you unexpectedly. Pluang will never ask you for your PIN or OTP. The practical risk is limited: a freeze locks the account rather than moving money out, and undoing it requires Face Match and Liveness Check against your identity record, which someone else cannot pass. There is no limit on how many times an account can be frozen and unfrozen, so a freeze you did not trigger can be undone by you.

What someone with your PIN and OTP could do: trigger a freeze, which locks you out until you verify your identity. What they could not do is unfreeze the account, because that requires your face — Face Match and Liveness Check are matched against the selfie record from your identity verification.

If your account is frozen and you did not do it:

  1. Do not share your PIN or OTP with anyone, including whoever may be contacting you about it
  2. Unfreeze it yourself — log in and complete the one-time code, then Face Match and Liveness Check
  3. Contact Pluang Care to report it: live chat at pluang.com/faq, tanya@pluang.com, or (021) 8063 0065 (Mon–Fri, 09:00–18:00 WIB)
  4. Treat your credentials as compromised and change your PIN once you have access again

How to protect yourself: never share your PIN or OTP, be sceptical of anyone who asks for either, and keep your registered email and phone number current so freeze notifications actually reach you.

Related questions:

Q: Could someone lock me out of my account permanently this way?
No. Unfreezing needs Face Match and Liveness Check against your identity verification record, which only you can pass. Someone who freezes your account cannot keep it frozen — you can unfreeze it yourself, and there is no limit on how many times an account can be frozen and unfrozen. If verification fails, Pluang Care can assist you.

Q: How would I know if someone froze my account?
You would receive a freeze confirmation by push notification and email, and these arrive even though the freeze logs you out of every device. If you get one you did not trigger, treat it as a strong sign that someone has both your PIN and access to your OTPs, and contact Pluang Care immediately rather than waiting to see what happens.

Q: Does Pluang ever ask for my PIN or OTP?
Never. Pluang will not ask for your PIN or any OTP by phone, email, chat, or social media, and no legitimate member of staff will request them. Anyone who does is attempting to compromise your account, regardless of what they claim about verifying your identity or resolving an urgent issue on your behalf.

Q: Is there a limit on how many times my account can be frozen?
No. There is no limit on freezing or unfreezing, and no fee either. Bear in mind that each unfreeze restarts the 24-hour hold on cashout and Crypto Send, so an account that is repeatedly frozen and unfrozen will have money-out unavailable for longer overall, even though nothing else is restricted.
