Where is my gold on Pluang stored, and is it safe?

Your gold on Pluang is stored as real, physical gold in a secure depository owned by PT Brinks Solutions Indonesia (Brink's) — a global secure vaulting service provider with more than 160 years of experience. Brink's is appointed by Indonesia Clearing House (ICH) and PT ICDX Logistik Berikat (ILB) as an authorised and licensed gold depository in Indonesia, and all gold is fully insured and stored by Brink's. Every gram you hold in the app corresponds to real physical gold held on your behalf, kept separately from Pluang's own company assets. Your transactions are recorded at Bursa Komoditi dan Derivatif Indonesia (ICDX) and guaranteed by ICH. The gold product itself is facilitated by PT Pluang Emas Sejahtera (PT PES), licensed and supervised by Bappebti as a Pedagang Emas Fisik Digital.

Who does what in Pluang's gold custody chain:

PT Brinks Solutions Indonesia (Brink's)Owns the depository where all gold is stored, stores the gold, and insures it
Indonesia Clearing House (ICH)Appoints and licenses the depository; guarantees gold transactions
PT ICDX Logistik Berikat (ILB)Appoints and licenses the depository alongside ICH
Bursa Komoditi dan Derivatif Indonesia (ICDX)The commodity exchange where all gold transactions are recorded

What makes this arrangement secure:

  • It is allocated, not notional. Your balance is backed by physical gold that exists in the depository — not by a price contract or an IOU.
  • It is segregated. Customer gold is held separately from Pluang's own corporate assets, so it is not part of Pluang's balance sheet.
  • It is independently licensed. The depository is not chosen by Pluang alone — ICH and ILB appoint and license it.
  • It is insured. All stored gold is fully insured by Brink's.
  • It is exchange-recorded. Transactions are logged at ICDX and guaranteed by ICH, creating a record independent of Pluang's own systems.

One important distinction: the insurance covering gold in storage is separate from the insurance charged when you withdraw physical gold and have it shipped to you. Storage insurance costs you nothing; shipping insurance is a separate 3% charge applied at physical withdrawal.

Related questions:

Q: Is there a storage fee for keeping gold on Pluang?
No. Pluang does not charge a storage or custody fee for holding your gold in the depository, and there is no time limit on how long you can hold it. Costs arise only when you transact: the buy/sell spread, the transaction fee, and — if you choose to take delivery — the physical withdrawal printing and shipping charges. Storage insurance is included at no cost to you.

Q: What happens to my gold if Pluang stops operating?
Your gold is held in a depository owned and insured by Brink's and licensed by ICH and ILB, segregated from Pluang's own corporate assets. Because it is not part of Pluang's balance sheet, it is not available to Pluang's creditors. Your transaction record also exists independently at ICDX, which is guaranteed by ICH.

Q: Is my gold actually physical, or just a price I am tracking?
It is physical. Every gram in your Pluang balance corresponds to real gold held in the depository on your behalf. This is what makes it different from a gold-price derivative or a gold-backed token. You can convert your holding into physical gold bars at any time through the physical gold withdrawal flow, subject to the applicable minimums and fees.

Q: Who regulates Pluang's gold product?
The product is facilitated by PT Pluang Emas Sejahtera and is licensed and supervised by Bappebti, the Indonesian commodity futures regulator, as a Pedagang Emas Fisik Digital. Bappebti is the authority that governs digital physical gold trading in Indonesia. Transactions are additionally recorded at ICDX and guaranteed by ICH.

Q: Is Pluang's digital gold halal?
Pluang's digital gold is facilitated by PT Pluang Emas Sejahtera, regulated by Bappebti as a Pedagang Emas Fisik Digital. It is not MUI-certified halal; its permissibility rests on general fatwas governing non-cash gold trading, which require the gold to physically exist, be clearly specified, and be redeemable on demand.
