Troubleshooting guide

Why Does My Crypto Futures Close Order Say "Maximum Close Quantity Is {xx}"?

This error means the amount you've typed, stepped, or slid to close is higher than your current open position size — you can never close more of a position than you actually hold, so the field shows this inline error and blocks submission until you reduce the quantity to your live position size or below.

Symptom / ConditionPossible CauseSolution
Error appears right after typing a large amountTyped quantity exceeds your live position sizeReduce the amount to at or below the maximum shown in the error message
Error appears after dragging the % slider past 100%The slider or a manual override pushed the derived quantity above your positionBring the slider back to 100% or lower
Position size shown seems smaller than expectedPart of the position may already be committed to other pending Limit Close orders, or the position itself has changed since you opened the sheetRefresh the Close Position sheet and check your current live position quantity before re-entering an amount
Error persists even at what looks like 100%The sheet may be showing a stale position size — reopening it re-fetches the live quantityClose and reopen the Close Position sheet or panel, then re-enter your quantity
The message reads "Maximum quantity per transaction is {xx} {asset name}" insteadThis is a different limit — a cap on how much you can close in a single order, separate from your position sizeReduce the amount to at or below the figure in the message, then close any remaining amount in a further order

If the issue persists:

Contact Pluang Care via live chat in the app or email tanya@pluang.com with the contract name and the amount you tried to close so the team can check your live position size.

Related questions:

Q: What does the {xx} in the error message refer to?
It's your live open position quantity for that contract at the moment you're closing — the maximum you can enter always matches your actual position size, not a fixed platform-wide number.

Q: What's the difference between "Maximum close quantity" and "Maximum quantity per transaction"?
They're two separate caps. "Maximum close quantity" is your open position — you can't close more than you hold. "Maximum quantity per transaction" limits how much can go through in one order, so you may be under your position size and still hit it; in that case, close the amount allowed and place a further order for the rest.

Q: Does this error also apply if I already have pending Limit Close orders on the same position?
The maximum close quantity check on this specific order is against your live position size; separately, pending Limit Close orders have their own cap so your total pending closes can't exceed the position — see the related FAQ on pending Limit Close behavior.

Q: Can I still close 100% of my position after seeing this error?
Yes — just re-enter or adjust your quantity down to your actual live position size (the default 100% option always matches it) and resubmit.

Q: Does this error apply to both Market and Limit closes?
Yes — the maximum quantity check is the same for both order types, since neither can ever close more than your open position size.
