Why Can't I Add TP/SL to My Pending Limit Order From the Positions Screen?
A pending Limit order hasn't opened a position yet, so the position's TP/SL option isn't available for it on the Positions screen. Add TP/SL through the pending order's Amend flow instead, or set TP/SL when you place the order. Once the order fills, you can also add TP/SL to the position directly.
| Symptom / Condition | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Your pending Limit order doesn't appear with a TP/SL option on the Positions screen. | The Positions screen shows open positions. An unfilled Limit order has no position yet. | Open the pending order and choose Amend, then add TP/SL on the Amend screen. |
| You want TP/SL in place before your order fills. | TP/SL can be set when you create the order. | Next time, set TP/SL in the order form before you place the order. See CFT-FEAT-HT-001. |
| You changed your Limit price, but your TP/SL prices stayed the same. | TP/SL prices don't recalculate automatically when you amend the parent order's price. | Update the TP/SL prices manually on the same Amend screen. |
| The app rejects the TP/SL price you entered. | For a pending Limit order, TP/SL trigger prices are checked against the limit price you entered, not the current market price. | Set trigger prices on the correct side of your limit price and within the valid range. See CFT-FEAT-G-014. |
| Your Limit order has now filled. | It is now an open position. | Add TP/SL from the position card on the Positions screen. See CFT-FEAT-HT-003. |

If the Amend screen doesn't let you add TP/SL to a pending Limit order, contact Pluang Care via live chat in the app or email tanya@pluang.com with the contract name and the order details.

Q: What if my Limit order has partly filled?
A partly filled order can't be amended, but the filled part is already a position, so add TP/SL to it from the Positions screen. TP/SL doesn't grow when more of the order fills, so add another TP/SL for the added size.
Q: Will my TP and SL be linked as an OCO pair?
If you submit TP and SL together, they form an OCO pair, so one executing cancels the other. If you add them separately, they are Independent.
Q: Does adding TP/SL to a pending order hold extra margin?
No. No margin is reserved for TP/SL orders, whether they are attached to a pending order or an open position.
