Why Can't I Amend My Crypto Futures Order?
Only a pending Limit order that hasn't started to fill can be amended. Market orders fill immediately, and an order that is partly or fully filled can't be changed. For a partly filled order, cancel the remaining part and place a new one. An order you've just sent may need a moment before it can be amended.
| Symptom / Condition | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| You can't amend your Market order. | Market orders fill immediately at the best available price, so they never sit pending. | Nothing is left to amend. Manage the resulting position instead, for example by adding TP/SL or closing it. Use a Limit order if you want to be able to adjust it before it fills. |
| Your Limit order has partly filled and can't be amended. | Once any part of an order fills, the order can no longer be amended. | Cancel the remaining part, then place a new order with the price or quantity you want. The part that already filled stays as it is. |
| You just placed the order and can't amend it yet. | The exchange hasn't confirmed the order yet. An order that has just been sent may briefly not be amendable. | Wait a moment, refresh, and try again. |
| The order is no longer in your pending orders. | It has filled or been cancelled. A filled order can't be amended. | Check the order in Transaction History. If it filled, manage the position with TP/SL or close it. |
| You can't amend your Limit Close order. | Amending close orders, whether Market Close or Limit Close, isn't supported. | Cancel the pending Limit Close and place a new one with the price or quantity you want. See CFT-FEAT-HT-007. |

Related questions:
Q: What happens when I amend a Limit order?
The amend is processed as a cancel plus a new order with your updated price or quantity. If part of the original order fills before the cancel reaches the exchange, that fill stands and can't be reversed.
Q: Can I amend my TP/SL orders?
Yes. Open the TP or SL order from Transaction History and choose Amend. The existing order is cancelled and recreated with your new values. See CFT-FEAT-HT-004.
Q: Does amending an order cost anything?
Amending itself carries no charge. Fees apply only when the order fills, and if your new price fills immediately, it is charged as a taker order rather than a maker order.
Q: Can I change the quantity as well as the price?
Yes. You can change the price or the quantity of a pending Limit order that hasn't started to fill. Either change is processed as a new order.
