Why Did Part of My Crypto Futures Order Fill Even Though I Cancelled It?
A cancel only applies to the part of an order that hasn't filled yet. If part of your order filled before the cancel reached the exchange, that fill stands and can't be reversed. Margin for the cancelled remainder is released. The filled part is now an open position, or has reduced one, so manage it with TP/SL or close it.
| Symptom / Condition | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Your order shows as cancelled, but part of it filled. | Part of the order was matched on the exchange before your cancel arrived. A cancel only affects the unfilled part. | This is expected, not an error. The filled part stands, and only the unfilled remainder was cancelled. |
| You're not sure how much of the order filled. | The order's detail shows the filled amount. | Open the order from Transaction History and check how much of it was filled. |
| You now have an open position you didn't want. | The filled part of an order to open or add to a position became part of your position. | Close the position, or only part of it, with a Market Close or Limit Close. To keep it, add TP/SL to protect it. |
| Your position is smaller than you expected. | The filled part of a close order reduced your position before the cancel arrived. | The rest of the position is still open. Any TP/SL on it has been reduced proportionally to match the smaller size. |
| Your available margin changed after the cancel. | Margin for the cancelled remainder is released, while the filled part is now an open position that uses margin. | Nothing needs fixing. Check your USDT Margin Account to see your updated available margin. |
If the issue persists:
If the filled amount doesn't match what you see in your position, contact Pluang Care via live chat in the app or email tanya@pluang.com with the contract name, the order details and the approximate time you cancelled.
Related questions:
Q: Can Pluang reverse the part that filled?
No. A fill on the exchange is final and can't be reversed. To undo its effect, close the resulting position or the part you don't want, which is a new trade with its own fees.
Q: Why didn't my cancel take effect straight away?
The exchange matches orders continuously, so a fill can land between the moment you cancel and the moment the exchange processes it. This is more likely in fast-moving markets. An order you've just sent may also briefly not be cancellable until the exchange confirms it.
Q: Am I charged fees on the part that filled?
Yes. Trading fees apply to the filled part in the usual way. The cancelled remainder never traded, so it carries no trading fee.
Q: How do I protect the part that filled?
Add TP/SL to the position from the Positions screen. See CFT-FEAT-HT-003.
