Why Is the Pluang Gold Price Higher or Different From Elsewhere?

Pluang gold can look more expensive than a price you saw elsewhere because the two figures are often not the same kind of price. What you pay on Pluang is the buy price, which sits above the mid price shown on the Gold page and above the sell price, because Pluang uses a floating spread. Purchases also carry a 0.15% third-party fee plus 11% VAT on that fee, both shown on the review screen. A price in the news is usually the global gold price, quoted in US dollars per troy ounce, so it has to be converted into Rupiah per gram at the exchange rate of the moment, and it may come from a different time than the price in the app. Prices for physical gold bars often include the cost of producing the bar; digital gold on Pluang does not, and printing is charged only if you withdraw physical gold. The price that applies is the one on the review screen when you confirm.

What to check when prices do not match

What you are comparingWhy it can differ from the Pluang buy price
A news or global price (XAU/USD)Quoted in US dollars per troy ounce, with no spread; the Rupiah-per-gram figure depends on the exchange rate at that moment
A price on another platformIt may be a sell price or a mid price rather than a buy price, and each platform sets its own spread and fees
A physical gold bar priceUsually includes the cost of producing the bar; on Pluang you pay printing only when you withdraw physical gold
An earlier Pluang priceThe price moves with the global gold price and the Rupiah exchange rate, and changes from time to time

How Pluang sets its price. Besides the price set by PT Pluang Emas Sejahtera as a Pedagang Emas Fisik Digital, Pluang refers to the ANTAM price and follows the global XAU/USD spot price as an additional reference, to stay competitive. The spread between the buy and sell price floats rather than being fixed, and it is built into both prices.

Comparing fairly. Compare a buy price with a buy price, at the same moment, in the same unit (Rupiah per gram), and include the fees. On Pluang, the review screen shows the buy price, the 0.15% third-party fee and the VAT on it before you swipe to confirm, and there is no third-party fee when you sell. To see the current price, open the Gold asset page (Search → Gold); to buy, see the guide "How to buy gold on Pluang".

Related questions:

Q: Why is the Pluang gold price different from the gold price in the news?
News reports usually quote the global gold price (XAU/USD) in US dollars per troy ounce. To compare it with Pluang, it has to be converted to Rupiah per gram at the current exchange rate, and the global figure has no buy-sell spread built in. The report may also be from a different time of day. Pluang's buy price also reflects its floating spread and, at purchase, the 0.15% third-party fee plus VAT.

Q: Is there a hidden fee in the Pluang gold price?
No. The spread is visible as the gap between the buy price and the sell price, and both prices are shown before you confirm. Purchases carry a 0.15% third-party fee, paid to ICDX and ICH, plus 11% VAT on that fee, shown on the review screen; sales carry no third-party fee. A storage fee of 0.01 gram a month applies only after 6 months of account dormancy, and Pluang Plus members are exempt.

Q: Why does a physical gold bar cost more than the same weight on Pluang?
A physical bar's price usually includes the cost of producing it. Digital gold on Pluang is priced by weight without that cost. If you later withdraw your balance as Antam-certified bars, from 1 gram, you pay printing, shipping and 3% insurance at that point, converted to grams at the sell price and deducted from your balance. The app shows the final amount before you confirm the withdrawal.

Q: What is the Pluang gold price based on?
The price is set by PT Pluang Emas Sejahtera, which also refers to the ANTAM price and follows the global XAU/USD spot price as an additional reference. Because of that, the Pluang price moves with the global gold price and the Rupiah exchange rate and changes from time to time. Whatever you saw earlier, the price that applies to your trade is the one on the review screen when you confirm.
