How Do I Read My Gold Position on Pluang?
To read your gold position on Pluang, open the Gold asset page (Search → Gold) and look at the "Your Position" section, which sums up what you hold and how it is doing. Amount is the number of grams you own. Value is what those grams are worth in Rupiah at the current mid price. Average buy price is the total you have invested divided by the total grams you bought. Estimated profit is (mid price − average buy price) × grams: the gain or loss on your whole holding if it were valued now, which becomes realised profit once you sell. Today's change shows only today's movement and resets every day at 00:00 WIB. Because this section uses the mid price, what you actually receive when you sell is based on the sell price, which is lower than the mid price and is shown on the review screen before you confirm.
What each field in "Your Position" means
| Field | What it shows | How it is calculated |
|---|---|---|
| Amount | Your gold balance | The number of grams you currently own |
| Value | The Rupiah value of your gold | Amount × current mid price |
| Average buy price | What you paid per gram on average | Total amount invested ÷ total grams bought |
| Estimated profit | The unrealised gain or loss on your whole holding | (Mid price − average buy price) × Amount |
| Today's change | The gain or loss from today's price movement only | (Today's mid price − yesterday's closing price) × Amount; resets at 00:00 WIB |
Worked example (illustrative figures, not current prices). You hold 10 grams with an average buy price of Rp950,000 per gram, and today's mid price is Rp980,000 per gram. Value = 10 × Rp980,000 = Rp9,800,000. Estimated profit = (Rp980,000 − Rp950,000) × 10 = Rp300,000. If yesterday's closing price was Rp970,000 per gram, Today's change = (Rp980,000 − Rp970,000) × 10 = Rp100,000.
Estimated, not guaranteed. Estimated profit and Today's change move with the gold price, so either can turn negative. Right after you buy, Estimated profit usually shows a small loss, because you bought at the buy price and your gold is valued at the mid price. Related questions:
Q: Why does my gold show a loss right after I buy?
Because of the spread. You buy at the buy price, which is above the mid price, while "Your Position" values your gold at the mid price. So right after a purchase, Value is a little below what you paid and Estimated profit shows a small loss. This is not a fee being taken from your gold: your grams stay the same, and the figure changes as the gold price moves.
Q: Does my average buy price change when I buy more gold?
Yes. Average buy price is the total amount you have invested divided by the total grams you bought, so a new purchase at a different price moves the average. Buying when the price is lower than your average brings it down; buying when the price is higher pushes it up. Estimated profit is then recalculated against the new average, using the current mid price and your new total Amount.
Q: When does Today's change reset?
Every day at 00:00 WIB. Today's change counts only the price movement since the previous day's close, not your earlier gains or losses, so it starts fresh each day. That is why your gold can show a positive Estimated profit and a negative Today's change at the same time: the holding is up overall since you bought, but the price has dipped today.
Q: Is Value the amount I will get if I sell?
Not exactly. Value uses the mid price, while a sale uses the sell price, which is lower. When you tap Sell and enter an amount, the review screen shows the sell price and what you will receive before you swipe to confirm. Gold sales carry no third-party fee, and the proceeds go to your Rupiah balance once the sale is complete. See the guide "How to sell gold on Pluang".
