Is Selling Gold on Pluang Taxed?

No tax is deducted when you sell gold on Pluang. No income tax (PPh) or VAT (PPN) is deducted from a sale, and there is no third-party fee, so nothing is taken off the sale amount on the review screen. The only tax charged in the app is on purchases: 11% VAT on the 0.15% third-party fee. The gap between the buy and sell price is the spread, built into both prices.

Q: Do I have to report my gold gains in my tax return?
That depends on your own tax situation, and Pluang does not give tax advice. To help, the Tax Report in the app shows your total realised gain or loss on gold for each calendar year, which you can use for your annual tax return (SPT).

Q: Where can I see my gold sales for tax purposes?
Open Account → Reports → Tax Report, choose the year and Gold, and the report is sent to your registered email. Each report covers one calendar year, 1 January to 31 December, and becomes available once that year has ended.

Q: Is the spread a tax or a fee?
Neither. The spread is the gap between the buy and sell price, built into both prices rather than charged as a separate line. It is why selling straight after buying returns less than you paid, even if the gold price has not moved.
