Why Can't I Change My Leverage on Crypto Futures?
The app won't accept leverage above a contract's maximum: most contracts allow up to 25x, while BAT, FIL and ZRX are capped at 10x. Choose a whole number from 1x up to that maximum. Lowering leverage needs more margin, so it is also refused if your available margin isn't enough.
| Symptom / Condition | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| The leverage you entered is not accepted | It is above the contract's maximum. Most contracts allow up to 25x, and BAT, FIL and ZRX are capped at 10x. | Choose a leverage at or below that contract's maximum. |
| A leverage with a decimal, such as 2.5x, is not accepted | Leverage is set in whole numbers only, starting from 1x. | Enter a whole number, such as 2x or 3x. |
| You tried to lower your leverage and the change was refused | Lower leverage needs more margin, and your available margin isn't enough to cover it. | Add USDT to your USDT Margin Account, or cancel open orders to free up margin, then try again. |
| The change is refused while you have open orders on the contract | Open orders on that contract can block a leverage change. | Cancel the open orders on that contract, then change the leverage. You can place the orders again afterwards. |
If the issue persists:
If your leverage is within the contract's maximum, you have enough available margin and no open orders on the contract, but the change is still refused, contact Pluang Care via live chat in the app or email tanya@pluang.com with the contract name and the leverage you tried to set.

Q: What leverage can I choose on Crypto Futures?
Any whole number from 1x up to the contract's maximum. Most contracts allow up to 25x, while BAT, FIL and ZRX are capped at 10x.
Q: Why does lowering leverage need more margin?
Leverage decides how much initial margin a position needs. At lower leverage, the same position size needs more of your own USDT, so the app checks that you have enough available margin first.
Q: Does changing leverage change my maintenance margin?
No. The maintenance margin rate is set per contract, based on that contract's maximum leverage, not the leverage you choose. Changing your leverage changes your initial margin.
Q: How do I free up margin to lower my leverage?
Cancel open orders you no longer need, since the margin held for a cancelled order is released, or add USDT to your USDT Margin Account.
