Why Did My USD Margin (Commodities) Balance Change Overnight?
The most likely reason is swap. Any Commodities position still open at the daily rollover, 05.00 WIB (04.00 WIB during US Daylight Saving Time), is charged or credited swap, with 11% VAT on charges. For gold and silver, the Thursday rollover counts three days. The swap shows up in Transaction History shortly after the rollover.
| Symptom / Condition | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Your balance dropped slightly after the rollover while you held a position | A swap charge for holding the position past the daily rollover. The swap rate is shown in pips per lot, and swap charges carry 11% VAT | Check the swap entry in Transaction History. It's a normal holding cost; a position opened and closed between two rollovers has no swap. |
| Your balance rose slightly overnight | A swap credit. Depending on your direction (Long or Short) and the rate, swap can be credited to you instead of charged | Nothing is wrong. A swap credit counts as a gain that you report yourself for tax. |
| The change after Thursday's rollover is about three times the usual amount | Triple swap: gold and silver positions open at the Thursday rollover are charged three days, covering the weekend | This is expected. Around market holidays, the extra days can fall on a different rollover. For Brent crude, check the Swap Fee entries in Transaction History to see which rollover carried the weekend. |
| You don't see the swap right after the rollover | Swap is applied at the rollover and shows up in the app shortly after | Nothing is wrong. Check Transaction History again a little later for the Swap Fee entry. |
| Your position's Unrealized P&L changed overnight | Commodities prices keep moving while the market is open, including outside Indonesian business hours | Check your open positions in the app. |
| Positions you held are gone in the morning | Liquidation: at a 50% margin level, Pluang closes your worst-performing position in full, then checks your margin level again; if it's still at 50% or below, it closes the next one | See the separate article on why Commodities positions were closed automatically, and check Transaction History. |
