What Happens When My Commodities Positions Are Liquidated?
Commodities liquidation happens when the margin level of your USD Margin (Commodities) wallet falls to 50%. Pluang then closes your worst-performing position in full and checks your margin level again. If it's still at 50% or below, it closes the next one. Because Commodities uses cross margin, it is the margin level of the whole wallet that triggers liquidation. The profit or loss of each closed position is realized in the wallet. Liquidation applies only to USD Margin (Commodities); your leveraged US Stocks positions in USD Margin are not affected. The margin call at 80% and the second warning at 70% usually come first, so act then.
- Trigger: a 50% margin level in USD Margin (Commodities). Margin level is your equity divided by the margin used by your open positions, across the whole wallet.
- What is closed: your worst-performing position first, closed in full. Pluang then checks your margin level again and, if it's still at 50% or below, closes the next one.
- Illustrative example: with US$100 deposited and 1 lot of gold (XAUUSD) Long opened at US$4,300, liquidation comes with gold at about US$4,221.61 (−1.82%), ignoring swap and closing fees. Prices are illustrative, not live quotes.
- After liquidation: the realized results of the closed positions go to USD Margin (Commodities), and the closed trades appear in Transaction History.
- Warning stages: a margin call at 80%, then a second warning at 70%, when new orders that add risk are blocked until your margin level is back above 80%. Your positions stay open at both stages.
- Alert timing: alerts are sent when your margin level stays below a level for a few minutes, or straight away if it drops sharply. In a fast market, your margin level can fall to 50% before you can act on an alert, so positions can be liquidated without an earlier warning.
- Keep a buffer: deposit well above the bare margin for the lots you open.
- Size positions carefully: fewer lots means each price move changes your margin level less.
- Monitor your positions: keep an eye on your margin level in the app. Pluang also sends alerts by email and push notification.
- Act early: at the 80% margin call or the 70% second warning, add funds to the wallet, or reduce or close positions, before the margin level reaches 50%.
- Plan your exit: Take Profit and Stop Loss are coming. For now, you can place a Limit or Stop order in the opposite direction to exit at a price you choose, which offsets your position. Orders fill in full or not at all, so a Limit or Stop exit might not fill: if it can't be filled in full, it shows as Failed.
- Know the product: Commodities is a leveraged trading product, not a savings product. For holding gold over the long term, Pluang Emas has no leverage and no swap.

Q: Which positions are closed when I'm liquidated?
Your worst-performing position first, closed in full. Pluang then checks your margin level again and, if it's still at 50% or below, closes the next one. Because your margin level is calculated across all open Commodities positions in USD Margin (Commodities), liquidation is triggered by the wallet as a whole, not by a single position. Keeping a buffer in the wallet and acting at the 80% margin call or the 70% second warning can help you avoid it.
Q: Can I stop liquidation once my margin level is falling?
You can act before the margin level reaches 50%. At the 80% margin call or the 70% second warning, add funds to USD Margin (Commodities) by moving USD from USD Cash or converting from your Rupiah balance. You can also reduce or close some positions to lower the margin in use. Once the margin level falls to 50%, Pluang closes your worst-performing position in full, then checks your margin level again; if it's still at 50% or below, it closes the next one.
Q: How far can the price move before my positions are liquidated?
It depends on how much you deposited, the size of all your open positions, the fees you've paid and any swap. In an illustrative example, you deposit US$100 and open 1 lot of gold Long at US$4,300: after opening fees of about US$0.11, liquidation would come with gold at about US$4,221.61, a fall of about 1.82%. With only US$45 deposited, even the margin call would come after a fall of about US$10. Keep a buffer rather than relying on a precise threshold.
Q: Can I lose more than the money in my wallet?
It can happen. Liquidation is designed to stop losses before your balance turns negative. In a fast-moving market a loss can still be larger than your balance. The price can move past the liquidation level before your positions are closed, and your balance can then turn negative. Keep your margin level well above 80%, and don't commit your whole balance as margin. If your balance turns negative, contact Pluang Care.
Q: Does liquidation affect my US Stocks or my USD Margin wallet?
No. Liquidation applies only to positions in USD Margin (Commodities). Your leveraged US Stocks positions use USD Margin, a completely separate wallet, and a loss in one wallet never affects positions in the other. If you trade both, keep enough funds in each wallet for its own positions.
