What Happens If I Add More Lots to a Commodity I Already Hold?

When you add lots in the same direction to a Commodities position you already hold, Pluang merges them into one position with a weighted-average entry price. You don't get a second, separate position. For example, 1 lot of XAUUSD Long at US$4,000 plus 1 more lot at US$5,000 gives one position of 2 lots at an average of US$4,500. Profit and loss, margin and swap are then calculated on the combined position. Each new order uses more margin and carries its own fees, and because of cross margin, a bigger position moves your whole wallet's margin level faster. Prices are illustrative, not live quotes.

  • One position per instrument: XAUUSD, XAGUSD and UKOUSD can each have one open net position at a time.
  • How the average is calculated: average entry price = (lots × price of each order, added together) ÷ total number of lots.
  • Illustrative example with unequal lots: 1 lot of XAUUSD Long at US$4,300 plus 3 lots at US$4,400 gives 4 lots at an average of US$4,375, because (US$4,300 + US$13,200) ÷ 4 = US$4,375.
  • Margin: margin = exposure (lot size × price) ÷ leverage, so every extra lot adds margin. At an illustrative gold price of US$4,300, each lot of XAUUSD needs US$43 of margin at up to 100x leverage. The order page shows the exact Est. Margin Required, which can be slightly higher than this simple calculation.
  • Break-even: the combined position breaks even around the new average entry price, plus costs. On a Long, adding at a higher price raises your average entry price; adding at a lower price lowers it.
  • Different instruments: positions on different instruments stay separate. You can hold XAUUSD, XAGUSD and UKOUSD positions at the same time, and they all share one margin level in USD Margin (Commodities).
  • Leverage: Pluang sets the leverage for each instrument (up to 100x for gold, 20x for silver and 50x for Brent crude) and may adjust it; the order page shows the current figure. Adding lots doesn't change it.
  • Order fills: an order fills in full or not at all; there are no partial fills.

Q: Can I hold two separate positions on the same commodity?
No. Pluang keeps one net position per instrument, so a second order in the same direction is merged into your existing position at a weighted-average entry price. An order in the opposite direction doesn't open a second position either: it offsets your existing position, reducing or closing it. Take Profit and Stop Loss are coming; for now, you can place a Limit or Stop order in the opposite direction to exit at a price you choose, though it might not fill. You can, however, hold positions on different instruments at the same time, such as gold and Brent crude.

Q: Does adding lots change my leverage?
No. You don't choose leverage: Pluang sets it for each instrument, up to 100x for XAUUSD, 20x for XAGUSD and 50x for UKOUSD, and may adjust it. The order page shows the current figure. Adding lots increases the size of your position and the margin it uses, but not the leverage. What does change is how much a given price move affects your wallet, because a larger position gains or loses more for every dollar the price moves.

Q: Is there a limit to how many lots I can add?
Yes. The minimum is 1 lot. There's also a maximum order size, and the app tells you if an order is too large. In practice, the margin available in your USD Margin (Commodities) wallet, shown as "Est. Available", also limits how many lots you can add, because every extra lot needs more margin. If your margin level falls to the 70% second warning, new orders that add risk are blocked until your margin level is back above 80%, and an order that would push your margin level below 70% may be blocked. At 50%, Pluang closes your worst-performing position in full, then checks your margin level again. If it's still at 50% or below, it closes the next one.

Q: Do I pay fees again when I add lots?
Yes. Each new order carries its own JFX & KBI fee: US$0.10 per lot, capped at US$1 per order, plus 11% VAT. Pluang currently charges no transaction fee on Commodities (0%). For 1 lot of gold at an illustrative US$4,300, that comes to about US$0.11; an order of 10 lots or more reaches the cap, about US$1.11 in total. The spread is built into the price you get. If you hold the position past the daily rollover, the swap is then calculated on the whole combined position.
