What Is the USD Margin (Commodities) Wallet?

USD Margin (Commodities) is the wallet Pluang uses only for Commodities trading. Every Commodities position draws its margin from it, and the realized profit and loss of your closed positions is credited to it. It is fully separate from USD Margin, the wallet for leveraged US Stocks: a loss in one never affects the other. The wallet uses cross margin, so one margin level covers all your Commodities positions, with a margin call at 80%, a second warning at 70% and liquidation at 50%. You fund it by moving USD from USD Cash or converting from your Rupiah balance.

  • Used for: Commodities only. Commodities trades use only this wallet, so the margin for every Commodities position comes from USD Margin (Commodities).
  • Separate from USD Margin (US Stocks): a different wallet holding different positions. A loss in one never affects positions in the other, so don't apply one wallet's rules to the other.
  • Other name: In emails and notifications, it may be called Commodities Margin (Margin Komoditas).
  • First trade: the first time you tap Buy (Long) or Sell (Short), a Disclaimer appears. Tapping Confirm means you agree to the Commodities Trading Rules, and your Commodities account is set up automatically within seconds. The wallet doesn't need a separate activation step.
  • Funding: move USD from USD Cash, or convert from your Rupiah balance. If the wallet doesn't hold enough when you place an order, the order sheet can cover the rest from your other balances, in the order shown under Est. Available.
  • Moving funds out: you can move funds back to USD Cash or to your Rupiah balance, up to the amount the app shows as "Available to Transfer". Margin used by your open positions isn't available, and unrealized profit can't be moved until the position is closed.
  • Balance: on the order page, the funds you can use are shown as "Est. Available".
  • Cross margin: one margin level for the whole wallet, calculated across all your open Commodities positions. A loss on one position lowers the margin level for all of them.
  • Margin levels: a margin call at an 80% margin level, the first warning; a second warning at 70%, when new orders that add risk are blocked until your margin level is back above 80%; and liquidation at 50%, when Pluang closes your worst-performing position in full, then checks your margin level again and, if it's still at 50% or below, closes the next one.
  • What changes the balance: realized profit and loss from closed positions, fees, and swap charges or credits on positions held past the daily rollover. You can review trades and swap charges in Transaction History.
  • Where the money is held: Commodities margin funds are kept in a segregated account at Bank Artha Graha.

Related questions:

Q: Is USD Margin (Commodities) the same as USD Margin?
No. USD Margin is the wallet for leveraged US Stocks, while USD Margin (Commodities) is used only for Commodities. They hold separate funds and separate positions, and a loss in one never affects positions in the other. When you read about margin rules, check which of the two wallets they refer to.

Q: Can a loss on my US Stocks affect my Commodities positions?
No. Your leveraged US Stocks positions use USD Margin, and your Commodities positions use USD Margin (Commodities). Because the two wallets are fully separate, a falling US stock can't push your Commodities margin level down, and a losing Commodities position can't affect your US Stocks positions. Within USD Margin (Commodities) itself, however, all your Commodities positions share one margin level.

Q: What does cross margin mean for my Commodities positions?
Cross margin means your margin level is calculated across all your open Commodities positions in the wallet together, rather than separately for each one. A profit on one position can support the others, but a large loss on one position lowers the margin level for all of them. If the margin level falls to 50%, Pluang closes your worst-performing position in full, then checks your margin level again; if it's still at 50% or below, it closes the next one.

Q: How do I add money to USD Margin (Commodities)?
Move USD from USD Cash, or convert from your Rupiah balance. The wallet doesn't need a separate activation step. Pluang recommends depositing well above the margin for the lots you plan to open, so that you have a buffer against price moves.

Q: Can I move money out of USD Margin (Commodities)?
Yes, to USD Cash or to your Rupiah balance, up to the amount the app shows as "Available to Transfer". Margin that your open positions are using isn't available to move. Unrealized profit can't be moved until you close the position; once it is closed, the realized profit is credited to the wallet and becomes part of your balance.

Q: Which exchange rate applies when I convert from Rupiah?
The rate shown on the review screen when you confirm. The review screen also shows any conversion fee and VAT before you confirm, so check the amount you'll receive in USD Margin (Commodities) before you go ahead.
