How Do I Calculate Mutual Fund Profit and Units on Pluang?

To calculate mutual fund profit, take the difference between the unit price and your average purchase price and multiply it by the units you own, while your units are the amount invested divided by the fund's NAB per unit (NAB/UP), the price of one unit. For example, Rp1,000,000 invested at a NAB of Rp1,250 gives 800 units. The NAB used depends on the 13:00 WIB cut-off: a purchase completed before 13:00 WIB on an exchange day gets that day's NAB, and a later one gets the next exchange day's NAB. Because the NAB is published only at the end of the day, between 21:00 and 24:00 WIB, the NAB shown when you buy is the previous exchange day's estimate, and your final units follow the final NAB listed once your transaction is verified. The fund's asset page shows a Profit or Loss Estimation: today's midday price minus your average purchase price, times your units. Your actual profit is set when you sell, at the NAB of the trading day your sale is processed.

NAB/UP (price of one unit)Fund's total net assets (AUM) ÷ units in circulationRp10,000,000,000 ÷ 8,000,000 units = Rp1,250
Units you getAmount invested ÷ final NAB/UPRp1,000,000 ÷ Rp1,250 = 800 units
Profit or Loss Estimation (on the asset page)(Today's midday price − average purchase price) × units owned(Rp1,300 − Rp1,250) × 2,000 units = Rp100,000
  • Which NAB applies: Before 13:00 WIB on an exchange day, that day's NAB. At or after 13:00 WIB, or on a weekend or exchange holiday, the next exchange day's NAB.
  • When units are added: On the next exchange day for purchases before the cut-off, and within 2 exchange days for purchases after it. Until then, the purchase shows under "On Going Purchase" and "Transaction in Progress", not in "Number of Units".
  • Fund costs: Already included in the NAB, so they are reflected in the unit price rather than charged to you separately.
  • Dividends: A dividend-paying fund pays dividends as additional units of the same fund, which increase your number of units. They appear in the fund's Transaction History as a "Buy" transaction.
  • When you sell: Your sale is calculated at the final NAB of the trading day it is processed. If the bank receiving your proceeds is different from the bank that holds the mutual fund (bank penampung), your bank deducts an interbank transfer fee, estimated at Rp2,500 to Rp30,000 per transaction.
  • Realised profit for the year: The Tax Report shows your total realised mutual fund profit or loss for 1 January–31 December. Find it under Account → Reports → Tax Report.

Related questions:

Q: How many units does Rp100,000 buy?
It depends on the fund's final NAB/UP on your NAB date. Divide the amount invested by the NAB per unit: at a NAB of Rp1,250, Rp100,000 equals 80 units; at a NAB of Rp2,000, it equals 50 units. The purchase must also meet that fund's own minimum purchase amount, and your exact units are only known once the final NAB is published between 21:00 and 24:00 WIB.

Q: How do I calculate my mutual fund profit when I sell?
Your profit on a sale is set by the final NAB of the trading day your sale is processed: (final NAB − average purchase price) × the units you sell. For example, 2,000 units bought at an average of Rp1,250 and sold at a final NAB of Rp1,300 give a profit of Rp50 × 2,000 = Rp100,000. If the bank receiving your proceeds is different from the bank that holds the mutual fund (bank penampung), your bank deducts an interbank transfer fee, estimated at Rp2,500 to Rp30,000 per transaction, so the money you receive can be slightly less.

Q: Is the Profit or Loss Estimation the profit I will actually get?
No, it is an estimate. It uses today's midday price against your average purchase price, while an actual sale is priced at the NAB of the trading day set by the 13:00 WIB cut-off. The money you receive can also be reduced by an interbank transfer fee if your receiving bank is different from the bank that holds the mutual fund. Mutual fund values can go down as well as up.

Q: Do dividends change my number of units?
Yes. Funds that pay dividends distribute them as additional units of the same fund, added to your holding no later than one day after the payment date (H+1). The extra units raise your number of units and are listed in the fund's Transaction History as a "Buy" transaction. As of September 2026, 10 mutual funds on Pluang pay dividends, and dividends are not guaranteed.

Q: Where can I see my realised mutual fund profit for a year?
In the Tax Report, under Account → Reports → Tax Report in the Pluang app. For mutual funds, it shows your total realised profit or loss for one calendar year, 1 January–31 December, and a year's report becomes available once that year has ended.
