What Is Mutual Fund Switching on Pluang?

Mutual fund switching on Pluang is moving the balance you hold in one mutual fund product directly into another mutual fund product, instead of selling it and buying again. In Indonesian, it is also called pengalihan or penukaran reksa dana. It is usually done between funds in different asset classes, for example from a money market fund to an equity fund, but both funds must be managed by the same investment manager. You can switch into money market, fixed income, equity and balanced funds; USD mutual funds cannot be switched yet. Only your Available Units can be switched, meaning units that are not in the process of being bought or sold, and the amount must be at least 105% of the target fund's minimum purchase or minimum ownership. Switching is free on Pluang, uses the same 13:00 WIB cut-off time as buying and selling, and takes a maximum of 2 business days.

Related questions:

Q: Is switching the same as selling one fund and buying another?
No. Switching moves your balance straight from one fund into another in a single transaction, while selling and buying are two separate transactions. When you sell a mutual fund on Pluang, the proceeds are sent to your registered bank account, which can take up to 7 business days, and you then have to pay for a new purchase. A switch is completed within a maximum of 2 business days and has no switching fee.

Q: Can I switch to a fund from a different investment manager?
No. Switching only works between funds managed by the same investment manager, and the Pluang app only displays the products you can switch to based on your balance. Even within one investment manager, some funds are not available for switching. To move money to a fund from a different investment manager, you need to sell your current units and buy the new fund as two separate transactions.

Q: Which mutual funds can I switch into?
You can switch into money market, fixed income, equity and balanced mutual funds, as long as the target fund is managed by the same investment manager as your current fund. USD mutual funds cannot be switched yet. As of September 2026, Pluang publishes a product-by-product list of which funds are available for switching, grouped by investment manager, in the article on which mutual fund products can be switched.

Q: How much does mutual fund switching cost?
Nothing. There is no switching fee on Pluang, so Pluang charges nothing on top of the switch itself. The costs borne by each mutual fund product are separate: they are already included in the fund's NAV and listed in its prospectus and fund fact sheet, so they apply to the fund whether you switch into it or buy it.

Q: What is the difference between switching, pengalihan and penukaran reksa dana?
There is none. Switching is the same transaction that Indonesian speakers also call pengalihan reksa dana or penukaran reksa dana: moving your balance from one mutual fund product into another in a single transaction, without selling and buying again. Whatever it is called, switching on Pluang only works between funds managed by the same investment manager and has no switching fee.
