Which Mutual Fund Units Can Be Switched on Pluang?

In mutual fund switching on Pluang, only your Available Units (Unit Tersedia) can be switched. Available Units are the units of a mutual fund you hold that can be exchanged, and they exclude any units that are still in the process of being sold or purchased. For example, units from a purchase that is still being processed, or units you have already submitted for sale, are not part of your Available Units and cannot be included in a switch. The Available Units you switch also have to meet the other switching rules: the amount must be at least 105% of the target fund's minimum purchase or minimum ownership, and a partial switch is not allowed if the balance left in your original fund would fall below that fund's maximum partial switching amount (which works as a minimum remaining balance). Switching only works between funds from the same investment manager, and there is no switching fee on Pluang.

  • Included: Available Units, meaning the units you hold that are not in the process of being sold or purchased.
  • Excluded, being purchased: Units from a purchase are only added to your holdings after the purchase process is completed, so they cannot be switched before then.
  • Excluded, being sold: Units you have submitted for sale are no longer available to switch.
  • Minimum amount: The value you switch must be at least 105% of the target fund's minimum purchase or minimum ownership.
  • Partial or full: You can switch part of your Available Units if the balance left in the original fund stays at or above its maximum partial switching amount, or you can switch all the units you have.

Related questions:

Q: Are my Available Units for switching the same as my total units?
Not always. Your Available Units can be lower than your total units because some of your units are in the process of being sold or purchased. Units being sold are excluded from Available Units, and units from a purchase are only added once the purchase process is completed. When those transactions finish, your Available Units reflect the units you actually hold and can switch. Only Available Units can be included in a switch.

Q: Can I switch units from a mutual fund purchase I just made?
Not until the purchase is completed. Units from a purchase are added to your holdings only after the transaction process is completed, which is on the next trading day after it is processed. Until then, those units are still in the process of being purchased and are not part of your Available Units, so they cannot be switched.

Q: Can I switch only some of my Available Units?
Yes, as long as two conditions are met. The value left in your original fund after the switch must not fall below that fund's maximum partial switching amount (which works as a minimum remaining balance), and the value you switch must be at least 105% of the target fund's minimum purchase or minimum ownership. If a partial switch would leave too little behind, change the switching amount or switch all your units.

Q: Can I switch all my units at once?
Yes. You can switch all the Available Units you hold in a fund, which is also the way around the partial switching limit when the balance left behind would be too small. The target fund must be managed by the same investment manager, be available for switching, and the amount must be at least 105% of its minimum purchase or minimum ownership.
