Are My Staked Coins Locked — Can I Still Trade or Withdraw Them?

Yes. Staked coins are locked for the duration of the staking period, so while they are staked you cannot trade, sell, send, or withdraw them. This lock applies through every stage of the flow: Staking Active, Bonding In-Progress, Un-bonding Requested, and Un-bonding In-Progress. The coins only become available (liquid) again once they reach Un-bonding Done status, at which point they return to your spendable wallet. This reflects how proof-of-stake works — networks impose bonding and unbonding lock-up periods that Pluang cannot shorten — so staked coins are best treated as illiquid while staked.

Good to know:

  • What you cannot do. Coins in Staking Active, Bonding In-Progress, Un-bonding Requested, or Un-bonding In-Progress cannot be traded, sent to an external wallet, or withdrawn.
  • What you can still do. You can always view your staked balance and status, and coins in Staking Active keep earning staking rewards.
  • Lock-up is a network rule. Bonding is the wait before your stake activates and unbonding is the wait after you request to unstake; both are set by the blockchain, not by Pluang.
  • Plan for the illiquidity. Only stake what you won't need soon — you stay exposed to price moves during unbonding but can't sell until the coins are released.
  • Unstaked coins are unaffected. If you own 1 ETH and stake 0.5 ETH, the other 0.5 ETH stays fully available to trade or withdraw.
  • Where they appear. Staked coins show in a dedicated Staking section under the crypto asset, separate from your available (liquid) balance.

Related questions:

Q: What happens if I want to trade my staked coins urgently?
You must submit an unstaking request first. That starts the network's unbonding period; only after it finishes and status reaches Un-bonding Done do the coins return to your available balance. The unbonding wait cannot be skipped.

Q: Are my coins available to trade while they are unbonding?
No. Coins stay locked throughout the entire unbonding period. Submitting an unstaking request does not immediately free them — they are released only once status shows Un-bonding Done.

Q: Can I partially unstake my staked amount?
Partial unstaking may be available depending on the coin — check the staking page in the app. Each network can set its own rules, including minimum unstake quantities, and any unstaked portion still passes through unbonding.

Q: Does staking affect my non-staked crypto holdings?
No. Only the exact quantity you stake is locked. All other coins, including the unstaked remainder of the same asset, stay fully liquid and available to trade, send, or withdraw.

Q: Do locked coins earn rewards during bonding and unbonding?
Rewards accrue while coins are in Staking Active. Bonding happens before the stake is active, and unbonding happens as coins exit, so reward accrual applies specifically to the active staking phase.
