What is the valid trigger and limit price range for TP/SL on Crypto Futures?
Pluang validates every TP/SL trigger price against a reference price and an asymmetric percentage range that depends on your position direction and which order side you're placing — Long Take Profit and Short Stop Loss allow a wider upper range of 0.04%–1,000% from the reference price, while Long Stop Loss and Short Take Profit are capped at a narrower 0.04%–100%. This asymmetry exists because a Take Profit on a Long position or a Stop Loss on a Short position both sit on the upside of the reference price, where crypto markets can realistically move much further than 100% over time, whereas a Long Stop Loss or Short Take Profit sit on the downside, where price can only fall to zero, making a tighter cap appropriate. Which reference price your trigger is validated against also depends on how the order was created — the limit price of a Limit parent order, the current market price for a Market parent order, or Mark Price when you're adding TP/SL to a position you already hold.
| Parent order type | Reference price | |
|---|---|---|
| Limit parent order | The limit price you entered | |
| Market parent order | The current market price (best bid/ask) | |
| Add TP/SL on an existing position | Mark price | |
| Position | Order | Valid range |
| Long | Take Profit | 0.04%–1,000% higher than reference |
| Long | Stop Loss | 0.04%–100% lower than reference |
| Short | Take Profit | 0.04%–100% lower than reference |
| Short | Stop Loss | 0.04%–1,000% higher than reference |
- Reference price used for validation:
- Trigger price valid ranges (relative to the reference price):
- Limit price rules (Advanced TP/SL, when the Limit toggle is on):
- Long: TP Limit Price must be ≥ TP Trigger Price; SL Limit Price must be ≤ SL Trigger Price
- Short: TP Limit Price must be ≤ TP Trigger Price; SL Limit Price must be ≥ SL Trigger Price
- If your entered price falls outside the valid range, Pluang shows an error and disables the Save button until it's corrected; if both the trigger and limit price are invalid at once, only the trigger price error is shown first, and the limit price error appears once the trigger price has been fixed.

Q: Why is my TP/SL trigger price showing as invalid?
Your trigger price is outside the allowed percentage range from the reference price for your position side — adjust it to fall within the range shown above, keeping in mind that Long TP/Short SL allow a much wider range than Long SL/Short TP.
Q: What reference price is used when I add TP/SL to a position I already hold?
Mark price — not the limit or market price used for brand-new orders, since an existing position doesn't have a live parent order price to validate against.
Q: Can I set a Take Profit that's 500% away from my entry?
Yes for a Long TP or Short SL, since those allow up to 1,000% — but a Long SL or Short TP is capped at 100%, so a 500% distance would be rejected on that side.
Q: Do the limit price rules apply if I'm using Simple TP/SL instead of Advanced?
No — the limit price constraints only apply when the Limit toggle is on under Advanced TP/SL; Simple TP/SL only has a trigger price to validate, since it always executes as a Market Order.
