What are Independent orders and OCO orders in Crypto Futures?

Independent and OCO (One-Cancels-the-Other) are the two ways Take Profit and Stop Loss can be linked on Pluang's Crypto Futures, and the distinction comes down entirely to how the orders were created rather than anything you configure afterward. Independent orders are created as two separate actions — each one stays active entirely on its own until it executes, the position underneath it is fully closed, or you cancel it manually, and executing one has no effect on the other. An OCO pair, by contrast, forms only when you submit TP and SL together in the same action: the moment one side executes, the exchange automatically cancels the remaining order, so you're never left holding an unwanted opposite-direction order after your position has already exited. Both linking methods are available whether you're opening a brand-new position or adding TP/SL to a position you already hold, and understanding which one you're creating matters because it changes what happens the instant your first order fills.

  • Independent (created separately): If you create TP and SL as two separate actions, each order stays active on its own until it executes, the position is fully closed, or you cancel it manually. Executing one does not cancel the other, so you could end up with a leftover order still active after your position has already exited through the first one.
  • OCO (created together): If you submit TP and SL together in the same action, they form an OCO pair. The moment one side executes, the other is automatically canceled — this prevents you from being left with an unwanted opposite-direction order sitting on a position that no longer exists.
  • OCO pairing is enforced at the exchange level, so cancellation is automatic and immediate the instant the trigger condition is met, with no manual step required on your part.
  • You can create an OCO pair or Independent orders when opening a new position, or when adding TP/SL to a position you already hold — the choice is made at creation time, not afterward.
  • Independent and OCO orders can coexist: one OCO pair plus additional Independent TP/SL orders can all sit on the same position simultaneously.

Related questions:

Q: How do I make my TP and SL an OCO pair?
Submit TP and SL together in the same order action — OCO pairing only forms when both are created at the same time, not added one after another. If you place a TP now and come back later to add an SL, the two will not be linked even though they protect the same position.

Q: If I add a TP first and an SL later, are they linked?
No — orders added separately, even on the same position, are treated as Independent and do not cancel each other. Each stays active on its own schedule, so canceling or executing one has zero effect on whether the other remains open.

Q: Does an OCO pair show any indicator in the app?
Yes — OCO-paired orders display a banner noting that the paired order will be automatically canceled once one side is triggered, so you can visually confirm at a glance whether two orders are linked before you place them.

Q: Can I have both OCO and Independent TP/SL on the same position?
Yes — one OCO pair and additional Independent TP/SL orders can coexist on the same position; only the OCO partner cancels on execution, while any Independent orders remain untouched and continue to sit active.
