Does Advanced TP/SL lock margin or affect my funding fee on Crypto Futures?

No — Advanced TP/SL does not reserve any margin and has no effect on your funding fee; both margin usage and funding fee are calculated purely from your open position itself, not from any TP/SL orders attached to it, regardless of whether those orders are set to Market or Limit execution. This holds true no matter how many TP/SL orders you've stacked on a position, whether they're linked as an OCO pair or created as Independent orders, and whether they're waiting to trigger or sitting unfilled after being triggered under Advanced TP/SL's Limit option. The reasoning is straightforward: margin is committed only to the actual exposure your open position represents, and funding fee is a periodic payment tied to holding that exposure, so an exit order that hasn't executed yet simply isn't part of either calculation until the moment it actually fills and changes your position size.

  • No margin reserved: Whether your TP/SL is set to Market or Limit execution, placing it doesn't lock any part of your available margin — margin is only committed to your actual open position, so you can still use your full available balance for other trades or additional positions while TP/SL orders sit active.
  • No funding fee impact: Funding fee is calculated based on your position size and the prevailing funding rate only; the presence, type, or number of TP/SL orders attached to that position doesn't change it in any way, since funding fee is a function of the position itself, not of the exit orders sitting on top of it.
  • No fee for setting TP/SL itself: There's no separate charge for placing, amending, or canceling a TP/SL order, whether Simple or Advanced. Standard trading fees apply only when the order actually executes and changes your position, exactly as with any other order type.
  • This applies uniformly across Simple and Advanced TP/SL — choosing Limit execution over the default Market execution changes nothing about margin or funding fee treatment.

Related questions:

Q: Does an unfilled Advanced TP/SL Limit order tie up my balance?
No — since no margin is reserved for TP/SL orders, an unfilled Limit TP/SL doesn't lock any part of your balance while it waits to trigger, so your available margin remains free for other positions or orders in the meantime.

Q: Am I charged extra for choosing Limit execution instead of Market on my TP/SL?
No — Advanced TP/SL has no separate fee; standard trading fees apply the same way once the order executes, regardless of execution type, so the cost of exiting your position is unaffected by whether you chose Market or Limit for that leg.

Q: Does having multiple TP/SL orders on one position multiply my funding fee?
No — funding fee is based on your position size alone, not on the number of TP/SL orders attached to it, so stacking several TP or SL levels on the same position has zero impact on the funding fee you're charged.

Q: Does canceling and re-placing a TP/SL order incur any additional cost?
No — placing, amending, or canceling TP/SL orders is free of charge regardless of how many times you do it; you're only ever charged the standard trading fee once an order actually executes and closes part or all of your position.
