What is Partial Position Closure on Pluang Crypto Futures?

Partial Position Closure is a Crypto Futures feature that lets you close any portion of an open position instead of only being able to close it in full. You can close part of a position using a Market order, which executes the quantity you set immediately at the best available price, or a Limit order, which rests until it fills at your specified price or better. The closing quantity defaults to 100% of your position, so a full close still needs no extra input beyond confirming — you only need to change the amount if you want to close less than everything. Partial Position Closure works wherever you manage a Crypto Futures position on Pluang: the Futures Detail Page (FDP), the Trade Page's Positions tab, and Pluang Web Trading's Positions Manager.

Before this feature, taking partial profit or reducing risk on a Crypto Futures position meant fully closing it and re-opening a smaller one — a round trip that cost extra trading fees and exposed you to slippage on both the close and the re-open. Partial Position Closure removes that round trip entirely.

  • Entry points: tap the position card on the FDP or the Trade Page's Positions tab, or use the close (X) icon on a row in Web Trading's Positions Manager.
  • One shared "Close Position" button: the separate Market Close and Limit Close buttons have been merged into a single "Close Position" action. Inside the sheet, a "Limit Order" option next to the Price field is what chooses between the two — leave it off to close at market, or switch it on to set your own closing price.
  • Quantity input: type an amount, use the − / + stepper, or drag the percentage slider, which has marks at 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%. All three stay in sync, and the quantity always rounds down to a valid contract multiple.
  • No new fees: partially closing a position uses the same fee structure as closing it in full — see the related FAQ on Crypto Futures closing fees.

Related questions:

Q: Where do I find the option to partially close my position?
On mobile, tap your position card on the FDP or the Trade Page's Positions tab and select "Close Position." On Web Trading, open the Positions Manager and tap the close (X) icon on the position's row — both open the same close panel with Market and Limit options.

Q: Do I have to close my whole position at once?
No — the closing quantity defaults to 100% so a full close needs no extra steps, but you can type, use the stepper, or drag the slider to close any smaller amount instead, down to the contract's minimum order quantity.

Q: Is Partial Position Closure available on Pluang Web Trading, not just the app?
Yes — Web Trading's Positions Manager has its own Close Position panel with the same Market/Limit choice and synced quantity controls as the mobile app, so you can partially close a position from either platform.

Q: What's the difference between using Market or Limit to partially close my position?
Market closes your chosen quantity immediately at the best available price, while Limit rests until the market reaches your specified price — see the dedicated FAQ comparing Market Close and Limit Close for the full breakdown.
