What Is Commodities on Pluang?
Commodities on Pluang is a leveraged trading product that lets you trade the price movements of gold (XAUUSD), silver (XAGUSD) and Brent crude oil (UKOUSD) in US dollars, without owning any physical gold, silver or oil. Each position is a derivative contract on the price: you open a Long position if you expect the price to rise, or a Short position if you expect it to fall. Leverage goes up to 100x for gold, 20x for silver and 50x for Brent, so a small margin controls a much larger position, and both profits and losses grow much faster than the price moves. Commodities trades use their own wallet, USD Margin (Commodities). The product is offered by PT PG Berjangka, a Pialang Berjangka (futures broker) licensed and supervised by Bappebti. Commodities is rolling out gradually and is available in the Pluang app only. It is high-risk leveraged trading, not a savings or long-term investment product.
- What you can trade: Three instruments, all priced in US dollars: XAUUSD (gold, per troy ounce), XAGUSD (silver, per troy ounce) and UKOUSD (Brent crude, per barrel). In the Pluang app, go to Explore → Commodities → Leverage to find them.
- Leverage: Pluang sets the leverage for each instrument (you don't choose it) and may adjust it; the order page shows the current figure.
- No ownership, no expiry: You trade a contract on the price, not the commodity itself. Positions are rolling contracts with no expiry date: they roll over automatically every day, with nothing for you to do.
- Overnight swap: A position still open at the daily rollover is charged or credited a swap. The rate is shown in pips per lot, and swap charges carry 11% VAT.
- Regulation and clearing: PT PG Berjangka is a Pialang Berjangka (futures broker) licensed and supervised by Bappebti, and a member of the Jakarta Futures Exchange (JFX) under membership number SPAB/169/BBJ/10/2018. Transactions are recorded at JFX and cleared at KBI, and margin funds are held in a segregated account at Bank Artha Graha.
- A separate wallet: USD Margin (Commodities) is fully separate from USD Margin, the wallet for leveraged US Stocks. A loss in one never affects the other.
Related questions:
Q: Do I own any gold, silver or oil when I trade Commodities?
No. Commodities is a derivative, so you trade a contract that follows the price of gold, silver or Brent crude, and you never own, store or receive the physical commodity. Your profit or loss comes only from the price difference between opening and closing your position, after fees and any swap charged or credited. If you want to own gold and hold it for the long term, Pluang Emas, Pluang's spot digital gold, is the product designed for that.
Q: Who can use Commodities right now?
Commodities is rolling out gradually to users of the Pluang app. Update the app to the latest version; if Commodities isn't there yet, it will appear as the rollout reaches your account. To trade, you also need a completed Global & Yield Asset Verification. The first time you tap Buy (Long) or Sell (Short), a Disclaimer appears. Tapping Confirm means you agree to the Commodities Trading Rules, and your Commodities account is set up automatically within seconds. You'll find Commodities under Explore → Commodities → Leverage.
Q: Can I trade Commodities on Pluang Web or through Agentic Trading?
Not yet. Commodities is available in the Pluang app only. Access through Web Trading and Agentic Trading will come later, and no date has been announced. For now, use the app and go to Explore → Commodities → Leverage.
Q: Is Commodities suitable for long-term investing?
No. Commodities is a medium-to-high-risk product built for short-to-medium-term trading on price direction, not for saving or long-term investing. Leverage magnifies losses as much as gains, and swap charges on positions held overnight can add up over time. If your margin level falls to 50%, Pluang closes your worst-performing position in full, then checks your margin level again; if it's still at 50% or below, it closes the next one. If you want long-term exposure to gold, consider Pluang Emas, which has no leverage and no swap.
