Can users under 18 use Pluang?

No. Pluang has rolled out two age-related changes. Since 27 April 2026, users under 18 cannot complete Basic KYC — meaning new under-18 users cannot register an account. From 15 June 2026, existing under-18 account holders also lose the ability to transact (buy, sell, top up, cash out, send crypto), though they can still log in and monitor their existing assets.

The under-18 restriction comes in two phases with different effective dates depending on whether the user is new or existing.

Phase 1 — New users (effective 27 April 2026):

Users under 18 cannot complete Basic Verification (Basic KYC) on Pluang. The system reads the date of birth on the submitted ID and rejects the registration if the user is under 18. Without Basic KYC, the user cannot create a usable Pluang account or access any asset.

Phase 2 — Existing under-17 account holders (effective 15 June 2026):

Existing users who completed Basic KYC before 27 April 2026 while still under 17 keep their account, but lose the ability to transact from 15 June 2026.

When an existing under-17 user turns 17, transaction access is restored.

Regulatory basis (both phases):

  • OJK Regulation No. 22/POJK.04/2021 — Good Corporate Governance for Securities Companies, requiring legal capacity for investment contracts
  • Law No. 10 of 1998 on Banking — requires legal capacity for banking and financial agreements
  • OJK General Provisions for Crypto Asset Trading — requires legal capacity for crypto transactions, referencing the legally recognised age of adulthood.
