Which Balance Earns USD Yield on Pluang?
Only your withdrawable USD cash balance earns USD Yield — that is, the USD sitting free in your account, other than any balance being held for a transaction still in progress. Three balances are explicitly excluded. Your USD Margin balance does not earn yield, because that balance backs your leveraged positions rather than sitting idle as cash. Your IDR cash balance does not earn it either, since USD Yield is strictly a USD-denominated program. And any funds temporarily held against a pending transaction are excluded for as long as they remain held, because they are not withdrawable at that moment. This distinction matters in practice: two users can hold the same total value in the app and earn very different amounts of yield depending on how that value is split. To maximise what you earn, move any balance you are not actively investing into your withdrawable USD cash balance.
- Eligible: Withdrawable USD cash balance only — the free USD in your account.
- Not eligible: USD Margin: This balance backs leveraged positions and does not earn yield.
- Not eligible: IDR cash: USD Yield is a USD-denominated program; rupiah balances are excluded.
- Not eligible: pending transactions: Funds held against a transaction still in progress are excluded while they remain held.
- Why it matters: Two users holding the same total value can earn very different yield depending on how it is split between these balances.
- How to maximise it: Move any balance you are not actively investing into your withdrawable USD cash balance.

Q: Why doesn't my USD Margin balance earn yield?
Because that balance is not idle cash — it backs your leveraged positions. USD Yield is designed to pay a return on USD you are holding but not currently deploying, and margin is by definition already committed to supporting a position. If you close leveraged positions and the balance returns to withdrawable USD cash, it becomes eligible again from the next daily balance snapshot onward, so nothing is permanently locked out of earning yield.
Q: Does my IDR cash balance earn anything through USD Yield?
No. USD Yield is strictly a USD-denominated program, so an IDR cash balance sitting in your Pluang account earns nothing under it regardless of size. If you want rupiah to start earning USD Yield, it has to be converted into USD first and then held as withdrawable USD cash. That conversion carries Pluang's standard 0.25% currency conversion fee plus 11% VAT on that fee, in both directions.
Q: What about money held against an order I have already placed?
Funds held against a pending transaction are excluded from the yield calculation for as long as they stay held, because they are not withdrawable at that moment. Once the transaction settles or is cancelled and the balance is released back into your withdrawable USD cash, it counts again from the next daily snapshot. So the exclusion is temporary and tracks the actual status of the funds rather than being permanent.
Q: How do I make sure as much of my balance as possible earns yield?
Keep balance you are not actively investing in your withdrawable USD cash rather than leaving it in USD Margin or as IDR cash. Because Pluang builds the monthly average from a daily balance snapshot, cash that sits in the eligible balance across more days contributes more to your payout. Cash you are holding between investment decisions is exactly the kind of balance USD Yield is designed to reward.
