When Can I Trade US Stocks on Pluang? (Regular Trading Hours)

The US stock market's regular trading session runs Monday through Friday (excluding US national holidays) from 9:30 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. WIB, shifting to 8:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. WIB during Daylight Saving Time, which runs from the second week of March to the first week of November each year. You can still place Market, Limit, Stop, and Stop-Limit orders outside these hours, but they will only be executed once the regular session opens. Since Pluang's US Stock product is a PALN product, execution ultimately depends on liquidity and bid/ask matching on the exchange rather than the reference price you see on the chart — a limit order only fills once someone else in the market is willing to trade at your specified price. For extended access outside these regular hours, Pluang also offers a separate 24-Hour Market feature.

Regular trading hours (WIB):

  • Standard: 9:30 p.m.–4:00 a.m. WIB, Monday to Friday
  • During Daylight Saving Time (2nd week of March–1st week of November): 8:30 p.m.–3:00 a.m. WIB
  • Closed on US national holidays

Placing orders outside regular hours: You can submit Market, Limit, Stop, and Stop-Limit orders any time, but they queue and only execute once the regular market session opens.

Why execution depends on liquidity, not just price: Because Pluang's US Stock offering is structured as a PALN product, your order's execution depends on the stock's liquidity — the matching of bid and ask orders on the exchange. A limit order fills only when someone in the market is willing to trade at your specified price; if there's no matching counterparty, the order simply won't execute, regardless of what the chart shows.

Example: A stock trades at $10.00 per share, but you only want to pay up to $7.00. You place a limit order at $7.00 at 6:00 p.m. WIB. The order sits until the market opens at 9:30 p.m. WIB, and will only execute if the price actually drops to $7.00 or lower — if it never reaches that level, the order remains unfilled.

Looking for round-the-clock access? This article covers regular market hours only. For trading outside these hours — including the mechanics, price behavior, and order rules of Pluang's extended-hours feature — see the dedicated 24-Hour Market article.

Related questions:

Q: Can I place an order for US Stocks when the market is closed?
Yes — you can place Market, Limit, Stop, and Stop-Limit orders at any time, even outside regular trading hours. Your order simply queues and waits until the regular session opens before it can be matched and executed, so submitting it early doesn't guarantee an earlier fill once the market opens, since all queued orders are treated the same way at open.

Q: Why didn't my limit order execute even though the chart showed the price I wanted?
Execution depends on actual bid/ask matching in the market, not just the reference price displayed on the chart. If there wasn't a counterparty willing to trade at your specified limit price at that moment, your order won't fill, even if the chart briefly touched that price level during a fast-moving session with thin liquidity on the other side of the trade.

Q: Do US Stock trading hours change throughout the year?
Yes — regular hours shift from 9:30 p.m.–4:00 a.m. WIB to 8:30 p.m.–3:00 a.m. WIB during US Daylight Saving Time, which runs from the second week of March through the first week of November. Outside that window, hours revert to the standard schedule, and the market is always closed on US national holidays regardless of season, so it's worth checking the exchange calendar around long weekends.

Q: What's the difference between this and Pluang's 24-Hour Market?
This article covers the regular exchange session only — the standard hours when US Stocks trade on their home exchange. The 24-Hour Market is a separate, dedicated feature for trading outside those hours, with its own price behavior, order-validity rules, and mechanics, covered in its own dedicated article rather than here, so check that one if extended hours is what you're after.
