Are All Investment Apps Supervised by OJK?
No, not every investment app is supervised by OJK. A licensed app is supervised by the regulator responsible for the product it offers: OJK supervises stocks, mutual funds, bonds, crypto assets and most financial derivatives, while Bappebti supervises commodity futures and digital physical gold. Some apps have no licence at all, and no regulator supervises them; Satgas PASTI, the government task force coordinated by OJK, orders such platforms to stop when it finds them. Being listed on the App Store or Google Play, or registered with Komdigi as an electronic system operator (PSE), does not mean an app is licensed to offer investments. One app can also be supervised by more than one regulator. On Pluang, Crypto, Crypto Futures, Indonesian Stocks, US Stocks and Options, and Mutual Funds are supervised by OJK, while Gold and Commodities are supervised by Bappebti, each through its own licensed company.
Who supervises each Pluang product
| Product | Licensed company | Regulator |
|---|---|---|
| Crypto Assets and Crypto Futures | PT Bumi Santosa Cemerlang | OJK |
| US Stocks, ETFs and US Stock Options | PT PG Berjangka | OJK |
| Indonesian Stocks | PT Sarana Santosa Sejati, working with PT Pluang Maju Sekuritas | OJK |
| Mutual Funds | PT Sarana Santosa Sejati | OJK |
| Gold | PT Pluang Emas Sejahtera | Bappebti |
| Commodities (open to a limited group of users) | PT PG Berjangka | Bappebti |
How to check whether an app is licensed
- Find the name of the company behind the app, usually shown in the app, its terms and conditions or its website.
- Check that company, not just the app name, on OJK's or Bappebti's official channels.
- If you are unsure, ask Kontak OJK: call 157, or WhatsApp 081-157-157-157.

Q: What is the difference between OJK and Bappebti?
OJK (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan) is Indonesia's financial services authority. It supervises banking, the capital market and other financial services, and since 10 January 2025 also crypto assets and financial derivatives in the capital market. Bappebti, the Commodity Futures Trading Supervisory Agency under the Ministry of Trade, supervises commodity futures and digital physical gold trading. Each licensed company reports to the regulator for its product.
Q: Is a PSE registration the same as an investment licence?
No. A PSE (Penyelenggara Sistem Elektronik) registration with Komdigi allows a company to operate an electronic system, such as an app or website, in Indonesia. It says nothing about whether the company may offer investments. An investment app needs a licence from OJK or Bappebti for its products as well. The companies behind Pluang's products hold PSE registrations as well as their OJK or Bappebti licences.
Q: Does OJK supervision mean I cannot lose money?
No. Supervision covers how a licensed company operates, such as how it holds customer assets and treats customers. It does not guarantee investment returns: prices can fall and you can lose money on any investment. For what does protect your assets, see the article "Does OJK compensate losses if an investment app stops operating?".
Q: What should I do if an app is not licensed?
Do not deposit money into it. If someone is offering you investments through an unlicensed app, report it to Kontak OJK on 157, WhatsApp 081-157-157-157, or by email to satgaspasti@ojk.go.id. If you have already deposited money, stop adding more and report it as soon as you can, keeping your transfer receipts and chat records. If you were defrauded, also report it to the Indonesia Anti-Scam Centre at iasc.ojk.go.id so the receiving accounts can be blocked quickly.
