What Is a Mutual Fund Dividend?
A mutual fund dividend is a distribution of a fund's profits to the investors who hold its units. On Pluang, mutual fund dividends are paid in the form of additional units of the same fund, which are added to your existing holding. Not every mutual fund pays dividends: as of September 2026, 10 funds on Pluang do, some every month, one every six months and some once a year. Whether a fund distributes a dividend, and how much, is decided by that fund's investment manager based on the fund's performance and policies, so dividends are never guaranteed. You are entitled to a dividend if you still hold units of the fund up to its cum date, and there is no minimum number of units. On the payment date, the fund's custodian bank distributes the dividend, and the new units appear in your holding in the Pluang app no later than one day after the payment date (H+1).

Q: Is a mutual fund dividend paid in cash or in units?
On Pluang, it is paid in units, not cash: additional units of the same fund, added to your existing holding. On the payment date, the fund's custodian bank distributes the dividend, and the units appear in your Pluang app no later than one day later (H+1). Because it arrives as units, the dividend is listed in the fund's Transaction History as a "Buy" transaction, usually for an amount smaller than the fund's minimum purchase.
Q: Do all mutual funds on Pluang pay dividends?
No. Only funds with a dividend policy distribute dividends. As of September 2026, 10 mutual funds on Pluang pay them: seven every month, two once a year and one every six months. The full list, with each fund's frequency, is in the article "Which Mutual Funds on Pluang Pay Dividends?". For a fund that does not pay dividends, your return comes only from changes in its NAB, which can rise or fall.
Q: Who decides how big a mutual fund dividend is?
The investment manager of each fund decides the amount, based on the fund's performance and policies. Pluang does not set it. This is why dividends differ from one fund to another and can change from one distribution to the next. A dividend paid in the past is no guarantee that the fund will pay the same amount, or any dividend, in the future.
Q: Are mutual fund dividends taxed?
No. Mutual fund gains, including dividends, are exempt from income tax under PPh Article 4 Paragraph 3. On Pluang, dividends are paid as additional units of the same fund, added to your holding, and whether a fund pays one, and how much, is decided by its investment manager.
Q: Do I need to do anything to receive a mutual fund dividend?
No action is needed beyond holding units. If you still hold units of a dividend-paying fund up to its cum date, the custodian bank distributes the dividend on the payment date and the additional units are added to your holding no later than H+1. There is no minimum number of units, and you do not need to register or claim the dividend separately.
