FAQ article

Is There a Minimum Holding to Get Mutual Fund Dividends on Pluang?

No. There is no minimum number of mutual fund units you must own to receive a dividend. As long as you still hold units of a dividend-paying fund on its cum date, you are entitled to that dividend, whether you hold a few units or many. You can also qualify by buying units on the cum date itself before the exchange closes, but not by buying on the ex-date, the day after the cum date. The fund must be one that distributes dividends: as of September 2026, 10 mutual funds on Pluang do. The dividend is paid as additional units of the same fund, added to your holding no later than one day after the payment date (H+1). Its size is decided by the fund's investment manager based on the fund's performance and policies, and it is not guaranteed. In general, a fund's dividend is shared among unit holders in proportion to the units they hold, so a smaller holding receives a smaller dividend.

  • Minimum holding: None. Any number of units held on the cum date qualifies.
  • The only timing rule: Hold units up to the cum date, or buy on the cum date before the exchange closes. Buying on the ex-date does not qualify.
  • Size of a small holding's dividend: Generally proportional to the units you hold, so a small holding receives a correspondingly small dividend. The dividend units you receive are usually worth less than the fund's minimum purchase.
  • Holding versus buying: There is no minimum to hold for a dividend, but each purchase you make still has to meet the fund's minimum purchase amount.
  • Where to see it: Open the mutual fund you own and tap the "Transaction History" toggle at the top right. The dividend is listed as a "Buy" transaction.

Related questions:

Q: Will I still receive a dividend if I hold only a few units?
Yes. There is no minimum number of units required, so even a small holding of a dividend-paying fund qualifies, as long as you still hold those units on the cum date. The dividend is paid as additional units of the same fund. Because a fund's dividend is generally shared in proportion to the units held, a small holding receives a correspondingly small number of additional units.

Q: Is the minimum holding for dividends the same as the minimum purchase?
No. There is no minimum holding for dividends, so any number of units held on the cum date qualifies. The minimum purchase is a separate rule: each purchase you make still has to meet the fund's minimum purchase amount. The dividend units you receive are themselves usually worth less than that minimum purchase.

Q: Does holding more units mean a bigger dividend?
Generally, yes. A fund's dividend is shared among unit holders in proportion to the units they hold, so the more units you hold on the cum date, the more additional units you receive. The overall size of each distribution is decided by the fund's investment manager based on the fund's performance and policies. It can change from one distribution to the next and is not guaranteed.

Q: If I sold part of my units before the cum date, do I still get a dividend?
Yes, as long as you still hold some units of the fund on the cum date. There is no minimum holding, so the units you have left still qualify. If you sold all your units before the cum date, you are not entitled to that dividend. Selling units on Pluang is covered step by step in the guide "Cara Menjual Reksa Dana".

Q: How can I check the dividend I received on a small holding?
Open the mutual fund you own in the Pluang app and tap the "Transaction History" toggle at the top right. Your dividend is listed as a "Buy" transaction, and its amount is usually smaller than the fund's minimum purchase, which helps you tell it apart from purchases you made yourself. The units are added no later than one day after the payment date (H+1).
