What Is a Limit Order?

A Limit Order on Pluang is a PRO Mode Advanced Order that buys or sells crypto only at the price you set or better, guaranteeing the execution price but not guaranteeing the order will fill at all. A buy Limit Order executes at your price or lower; a sell Limit Order at your price or higher. If the market never reaches your price, the order stays pending. Because it adds liquidity, it is a maker order (maker fee subject to 11% VAT, plus a floating spread). It stays valid for up to 90 days and can be modified or cancelled while pending.

Good to know:

  • A buy Limit Order fills at your price or lower; a sell Limit Order at your price or higher.
  • If the market never reaches your limit, the order doesn't execute — you're never forced into a worse price.
  • Valid up to 90 days; a partially filled order's remainder expires at 24:00 WIB the same day.
  • Maker order — maker fee (subject to 11% VAT) plus a floating spread.
  • A pending buy locks IDR; a pending sell locks the units — released on cancellation or expiry.

Related questions:

Q: Is my Limit Order guaranteed to execute?
No — only guaranteed to fill at your price or better, and only if the market reaches that price. Otherwise it stays pending and eventually expires.

Q: Why didn't my Limit Order execute even though the price seemed to reach it?
Execution is based on the underlying exchange price, which can differ from the chart. If liquidity at your level was insufficient, the order may not fill — Pluang's slippage protection at work.

Q: How long does a Limit Order stay active before it expires?
Up to 90 days. A partially filled order's remaining portion expires at 24:00 WIB on the same day of the partial fill.

Q: Can I cancel or change a Limit Order before it executes?
Yes — modify the limit price or cancel from your open orders list while it's unexecuted; locked IDR or units are released immediately on cancellation.

Q: What is the difference between a Limit Order and a Stop-Limit Order?
A Limit Order is active immediately at your set price; a Stop-Limit Order only becomes a Limit Order once a separate trigger price is reached first.
