Related questions:
Q: How much margin do I need for 1 lot?
Margin is Exposure (lot size × price) divided by leverage. As an illustration, not live prices: gold at US$4,300 needs US$43, silver at US$70 needs US$35, and Brent crude at US$80 needs US$16 for 1 lot. The order page shows the exact Est. Margin Required, which can be slightly higher than this simple calculation.
Q: What fees apply when I open a position?
The JFX & KBI fee of US$0.10 per lot, capped at US$1 per order, plus 11% VAT: about US$0.11 in total on 1 lot of gold. Pluang currently charges no transaction fee on Commodities (0%). The spread is already in the price. Swap applies only to positions held past the daily rollover.
Q: Which order types can I use?
Market, Limit and Stop orders. Under More settings → Time in Force, you can choose Day (Good till market close) or GTC (Good till cancelled). Orders fill in full or not at all, with no partial fills.
Q: Why does my new position already show a small loss?
Because of the spread, the gap between the buy and sell price, which is already in the price, plus the small JFX & KBI fee: about US$0.11 on 1 lot of gold, including VAT. The price needs to move in your favour to cover them.
Q: Can I choose my leverage?
No. Pluang sets the leverage for each instrument: up to 100x for gold, 20x for silver and 50x for Brent crude. Pluang may adjust it, and the order page shows the current figure.
Before you start, make sure:
- You have completed Global & Yield Asset Verification; the first time you trade, you accept the Commodities Trading Rules
- Your USD Margin (Commodities) wallet is funded with more than the margin you need; at illustrative prices, 1 lot needs about US$16 (Brent crude) to US$43 (gold)
- The market is open, because you can't place orders while it's closed: Monday 06.00 WIB to Saturday 05.00 WIB, with a daily break of 05.00–06.00 WIB for gold and silver and 05.00–08.00 WIB (Tuesday to Friday) for Brent crude; during US Daylight Saving Time, every time is one hour earlier
- You know that Pluang sets the leverage for each instrument (you don't choose it) and may adjust it: up to 100x for XAUUSD (gold), 20x for XAGUSD (silver) and 50x for UKOUSD (Brent crude); the order page shows the current figure
- You understand that you hold one net position per instrument: adding lots in the same direction merges them at a weighted-average entry price, and an order in the opposite direction offsets your existing position (reducing or closing it) rather than opening a separate one
- You will keep an eye on your margin level in the app: the margin call comes at an 80% margin level; at 70% you get a second warning, and new orders that add risk are blocked until your margin level is back above 80%; and at 50%, Pluang closes your worst-performing position in full, then checks your margin level again and, if it's still at 50% or below, closes the next one
- You understand that Commodities is high-risk leveraged trading on gold, silver and Brent crude, not a savings or long-term product; if you want to hold gold for the long term, Pluang Emas is the better fit
7 Steps
Open Explore → Commodities → Leverage
In the Pluang app, go to Explore, tap Commodities and open the Leverage tab, where XAUUSD (gold), XAGUSD (silver) and UKOUSD (Brent crude) are listed.
Select the instrument you want to trade
Check its current price and make sure the market is open; you can't place orders while it's closed.
Tap Buy (Long) or Sell (Short)
Tap Buy (Long) if you expect the price to rise, or Sell (Short) if you expect it to fall. The first time you trade, a Disclaimer appears: tap Confirm to agree to the Commodities Trading Rules, and your Commodities account is set up automatically.
Pick the order type and how long it stays valid
Under Order Type, choose Market, Limit or Stop. For a Limit order, enter the Limit Price; for a Stop order, enter the price that triggers it. Then, under More settings → Time in Force, choose Day (Good till market close) or GTC (Good till cancelled).
Enter the number of lots
Use the − / + buttons next to Lot. The minimum is 1 lot. There's also a maximum order size, and the app tells you if an order is too large. 1 lot is 1 troy ounce of gold, 10 troy ounces of silver or 10 barrels of Brent crude.
Review the order page
Before you place the order, check Est. Total Exposure, Est. Margin Required, Transaction Fee, Taxes & Third Party Fees and New Margin Level, and make sure Est. Available covers the margin with room to spare.
Slide to place the order
Use the "Slide to place order" slider to confirm your Buy (Long) or Sell (Short) order. Orders fill in full or not at all. Once your order fills, the position appears among your open Commodities positions, and its margin counts as used margin in your USD Margin (Commodities) wallet.
