How to Add Funds to Your USD Margin (Commodities) Wallet

To add funds to your USD Margin (Commodities) wallet, move US dollars from USD Cash, or convert from your Rupiah balance. Commodities trades use only this wallet. It is separate from USD Margin, the wallet for leveraged US Stocks, and a loss in one never affects the other. If the wallet doesn't hold enough when you place an order, the order sheet can cover the rest from your other balances, in the order shown under Est. Available.

Related questions:

Q: Is USD Margin (Commodities) the same as USD Margin?
No. USD Margin (Commodities) is used only for Commodities, while USD Margin is for leveraged US Stocks. The two are fully separate, and a loss in one never affects positions in the other.

Q: How much should I put in the wallet?
Enough to cover the margin with room to spare. As an illustration, 1 lot of gold at US$4,300 needs US$43 in margin. The order page shows the exact Est. Margin Required, which can be slightly higher than this simple calculation. With US$100 deposited, the 80% margin call would come at a gold price of about US$4,234.51; with only US$45, after a fall of about US$10.

Q: Where does my profit go when I close a Commodities position?
Realized profit or loss is credited to your USD Margin (Commodities) wallet. The JFX & KBI fee is US$0.10 per lot, capped at US$1 per order, plus 11% VAT, on opening and on closing. Pluang currently charges no transaction fee on Commodities (0%).

Q: Can I move money back out of the wallet?
Yes, to USD Cash or to your Rupiah balance, up to the amount the app shows as Available to Transfer. Margin used by open positions isn't available, and unrealized profit can't be moved until the position is closed.

Before you start, make sure:

  • Commodities is available in your app and you have completed Global & Yield Asset Verification
  • You know there's no separate wallet-activation step: the first time you tap Buy (Long) or Sell (Short), a Disclaimer appears, and when you tap Confirm to agree to the Commodities Trading Rules, your Commodities account is set up automatically
  • You have a balance to fund the wallet from: USD Cash, or your Rupiah balance to convert
  • You plan to deposit more than the bare margin, because the margin call comes at an 80% margin level; at 70% you get a second warning, and new orders that add risk are blocked until your margin level is back above 80%; and at 50%, Pluang closes your worst-performing position in full, then checks your margin level again and, if it's still at 50% or below, closes the next one
  • You understand the wallet is cross-margined: its margin level is calculated across all your open Commodities positions together, not position by position
