FAQ article

Why does Pluang say my new phone number is already registered to another Pluang account?

Pluang links each phone number to only one account, so you can't use a number that another Pluang account already holds. When the app says your new number is already registered, that number is attached to a different account, and the change can't go ahead until it's released or you choose another number. This usually happens in one of three ways: you once signed up with that number, perhaps without finishing verification; a family member registered with it; or your mobile operator gave you a recycled number that a previous owner used on Pluang. If the other account is yours, log in to it with that number and contact Pluang Care so the team can help release it. If it isn't yours, use a different number, or ask Pluang Care whether the number can be released. Pluang Care can't move a number between accounts without checking who the accounts belong to.

If the other account is yours

Log in with that number to see which account it is. Then contact Pluang Care, say which account you want to keep, and ask for the number to be released so you can use it on your main account. Remember that each NIK can have only one verified Pluang account, so the team may also need to check what happens to the other one.

If the other account isn't yours

Choose a different number that isn't linked to any Pluang account. If you need this particular number, for example because your operator has given it to you permanently, contact Pluang Care. The team checks whether the number can be released from the other account and tells you what's possible.

Related questions:

Q: Can two Pluang accounts share one phone number?
No. Each phone number can be linked to only one Pluang account, and the same rule applies to email addresses and NIKs. This keeps every login OTP going to a single, identified account holder. If you share a phone with a family member, each of you needs your own number to have your own Pluang account. Use a number that's registered in your own name with your mobile operator where possible.

Q: I got a recycled number from my operator. What should I do?
Contact Pluang Care and explain that the number was reissued to you by your mobile operator. The team checks the account the number is still linked to and tells you whether it can be released. Until then, keep using your current number on Pluang, or choose another number that isn't registered. Never ask the previous owner for their OTP codes; Pluang Care handles this directly.

Q: Can I change my number while I wait for it to be released?
Yes. You can change to any number that isn't linked to another Pluang account, using Change Phone Number on the Account page. Keep in mind that you can change your number only once every 30 days, and that cashout and Crypto Send pause for 24 hours after each change. If you plan to move to the released number later, check the 30-day limit first.

Q: What details should I send Pluang Care?
Send your registered phone number and email, the new number you want to use, and why you believe the number should be yours, for example that it's from an old account of yours or that your operator reissued it to you. Pluang Care may also ask you to verify your identity with a photo of your e-KTP and a selfie before changing anything.
