Tesla to wind down Cybertruck production by mid-2027, shifting focus to Cybercab and Robotaxi.

Tesla announced it will wind down production of the Cybertruck at its Texas Gigafactory by mid-2027 to make room for increased Cybercab production, which supports Tesla's Robotaxi fleet. The Cybertruck, once expected to sell up to 500,000 units annually, has seen sharply declining sales, with only about 7,000 to 8,000 units delivered recently—far below targets. Pricing hikes, recalls, and quality issues contributed to its poor market performance, drawing comparisons to the infamous Ford Edsel flop. Tesla's focus is now shifting to autonomous vehicle technology, with Cybercab production ramping up and significant R&D investment in Robotaxi development, which Musk expects to become significant by late 2027.

Tesla shares are trading at USD 349.91 on Pluang as of Nov 06, 2026 17:51 WIB, up 1.81% in the last day. Ford, often compared to Tesla in automotive history, is priced at USD 12.52 with a slight 0.16% decline. Pluang users show a balanced interest in Tesla with 54% buy orders, while Ford sees a strong sell sentiment at 98%.
