DFINITY founder accuses Near Protocol of stealing key cross-chain tech, warns of legal action.

Dominic Williams, founder of DFINITY, alleges that Near Protocol stole proprietary technology behind its cross-chain system, NEAR Intents, developed with help from a former DFINITY employee. Williams claims this theft has financially harmed DFINITY and ICP token holders, though no lawsuit has been announced yet. Near Protocol has not formally responded, but an executive made a sarcastic comment about ICP. Meanwhile, NEAR Intents has gained significant traction with high transaction volumes, while Internet Computer's network activity and value locked have sharply declined. The situation raises concerns about intellectual property and market impact within the blockchain space.

ICP (Internet Computer) trades at Rp49.789 with a 1.53% decline as of Oct 23, 2026 18:42 WIB on Pluang. NEAR Protocol is priced higher at Rp88.343 but also down 1.61%, showing more selling pressure with 96% sell orders. Despite the controversy, ICP holders hold their tokens for about 57 days on average, slightly longer than NEAR's 51 days.
