DFINITY accuses NEAR of unauthorized use of proprietary tech in cross-chain asset custody.

DFINITY founder Dom accused NEAR of using a key technology licensed exclusively for DFINITY's Internet Computer (ICP) without permission. The technology involves threshold ECDSA, a method for faster cross-chain asset custody and transaction signing. Dom claims NEAR's deployment across eight servers compromises the decentralization and security NEAR promotes. He warned this unauthorized use could lead to legal issues and harm DFINITY and the ICP community, urging both parties to resolve the dispute.

As of Oct 23, 2026 10:02 WIB, ICP trades at Rp50.029 on Pluang, down 2.17% in the last day, reflecting some market hesitation possibly linked to the ongoing dispute over technology use. The coin holds a market cap of Rp27,76 trillion and sees Rp1,06 trillion in 24-hour trading volume, with 85% of Pluang users buying and a typical hold time of 57 days. This contrasts with the strong buy interest despite the price dip, showing investor confidence in ICP's longer-term potential amid the controversy.
