What are stop loss and take profit for Indonesian stocks on Pluang?

Stop Loss and Take Profit — shown together as SLTP — are automatic exit levels you attach to a Limit buy order when you place it. Take Profit sells your shares if the price rises to a target you set; Stop Loss sells them if the price falls to a level you are not willing to go below. You set both, or just one, at the moment you place the buy order. Once your buy is fully filled, the two exit orders open and wait. Whichever level the market reaches first is executed, and the other is cancelled automatically. Importantly, the exit Pluang places for you is a Limit order, which means it can execute at your price or better but is not guaranteed to fill.

Stop Loss and Take Profit for Indonesian stocks are available in the Pluang app only, where they appear as "Exit Strategy". The web trading platform does not offer them. Everything below describes the app.

What each level does:

Take ProfitStop Loss
DirectionSet above your buy priceSet below your buy price
PurposeLock in a gain at a target you choseLimit how much a position can lose
What it placesA sell Limit order at your TP priceA sell Limit order at your SL price
When it firesWhen the market reaches your targetWhen the market falls to your level

How the trigger works. Pluang watches the market and acts slightly before your price is reached — one price step early — so the sell order is already sitting in the exchange queue by the time the market arrives at your exact level. That step is the IDX price fraction for the stock, typically between Rp1 and Rp25 depending on the price band. It is a timing mechanism, not a change to your price: the order that gets placed is at the price you set.

What happens after your buy fills:

  1. Your Limit buy order matches in full.
  2. The Stop Loss order and the Take Profit order both open.
  3. Whichever triggers first is sent to the exchange as a sell Limit order at your price.
  4. The other is cancelled automatically — even if it had partially filled.

The honest limitation. Because the exit is a Limit order, a fast-falling market can move through your Stop Loss price without a buyer at that level, leaving the order unfilled. SLTP reduces the work of monitoring a position; it does not guarantee you exit at your chosen price. Treat it as a discipline tool, not a guarantee.

SLTP is set at placement only. You cannot add it to an order you have already placed, and it works only on Limit buy orders with Day or Session validity — not on GTC and not on Market orders.

Related questions:

Q: Does stop loss guarantee my sell price on Pluang?
No. When your Stop Loss triggers, Pluang places a sell Limit order at the price you set — and a Limit order only executes if a buyer is willing to trade at that price or better. In a sharply falling market the price can pass straight through your level with no match, leaving you still holding the position. This is a real limitation of SLTP on any platform, not a Pluang-specific shortfall.

Q: Can I set only a stop loss without a take profit?
Yes. You can set both levels or just one, depending on what you want the order to do. Many traders set only a Stop Loss to cap downside while leaving the upside open, and that is fully supported. If you set both, they work as a pair — the first one to trigger executes and cancels the other.

Q: What happens if my buy order is only partially filled?
The SLTP does not trigger. Pluang only activates the exit orders once the parent buy order is fully filled, so a partially filled buy leaves the SLTP dormant. If the parent order then expires with lots still unfilled, the SLTP expires with it. Keep this in mind on thinly traded stocks, where partial fills are more likely.

Q: Is SLTP for Indonesian stocks the same as the TP/SL on Crypto Futures?
No. They are separate features on different products with different mechanics — Crypto Futures TP/SL works against a leveraged position and has its own rules on adjustment and validity. Do not assume behaviour learned on one applies to the other. This article covers Indonesian stocks only.
