What Are the Requirements to Use Leverage on Pluang?

To trade US Stocks with leverage on Pluang you must first complete Additional Verification of US Stocks in the app. This is a separate step from ordinary Pluang onboarding: an account that can already buy US Stocks with cash is not automatically able to trade them with leverage. Completing the verification unlocks the USD Margin wallet, which is where leveraged positions draw their margin from and where the Daily Leverage Fee is charged. After approval you also need funds sitting inside USD Margin specifically, since a balance held in your ordinary USD Balance cannot back a leveraged order, and you need to be trading a stock that is leverage-eligible — Pluang marks these with a Leverage filter on the Explore page. Until all three conditions are met, the leverage option will not be available to you.

  • Core requirement: Complete Additional Verification of US Stocks in the Pluang app — this is the gate for all leveraged trading.
  • Not covered by standard onboarding: Being able to buy US Stocks with cash does not grant leverage access on its own.
  • What it unlocks: The USD Margin wallet, which funds every leveraged position and carries the Daily Leverage Fee.
  • Funding condition: Money must sit inside USD Margin; an ordinary USD Balance cannot back a leveraged order.
  • Stock condition: The stock must be leverage-eligible — filter for Leverage on the Explore page to find them.
  • Order of operations: Verify first, fund USD Margin second, then choose your leverage ratio when placing the order.

Related questions:

Q: What exactly is Additional Verification of US Stocks?
It is an extra verification step inside the Pluang app, separate from the onboarding you completed when you opened your account. It is what Pluang uses to enable leveraged US Stock trading and to open your USD Margin wallet. Until it is approved, leverage ratios will not appear as an option on the order screen, even on stocks that are otherwise leverage-eligible.

Q: I can already buy US Stocks — why can't I use leverage?
Cash purchases of US Stocks and leveraged purchases are gated differently. Standard onboarding covers the first; Additional Verification of US Stocks covers the second. If leverage is missing from your order screen, the usual reason is that this extra verification has not been completed or is still being processed. Once it is approved, the USD Margin wallet appears under Balance in the app.

Q: Is verification alone enough to place a leveraged order?
No. Verification unlocks the capability, but two further conditions still apply. You need funds inside the USD Margin wallet specifically, because an ordinary USD Balance cannot serve as margin. And the stock itself has to be one of the leverage-eligible names, which you can identify using the Leverage filter under the US Stocks tab on the Explore page. Missing either condition will leave the leverage option unavailable even after approval.

Q: Does completing verification commit me to using leverage?
No. Completing Additional Verification of US Stocks makes leveraged trading available to you; it does not oblige you to use it or move any money. You can continue buying US Stocks with cash exactly as before, leave the USD Margin wallet empty, and open a leveraged position only when you actually want one and understand the risks involved. The verification simply removes the gate; every decision after that remains entirely yours.
