What's the Difference Between a Spot Portfolio and a Futures Portfolio on Pluang?

Since the latest portfolio update, Pluang no longer has a separate Spot Portfolio and Futures Portfolio: both sit in one portfolio, as separate tabs under Assets. The Crypto tab shows the spot coins you directly own, valued at current market prices, plus coins in Pockets. The Crypto Futures tab shows your Crypto Futures positions, margined in USDT, with your margin, unrealised and realised profit or loss, and open positions. Both count toward your Portfolio Value: spot coins at their market value, and Crypto Futures at the margin backing your positions plus unrealised profit or loss. They are still different kinds of exposure: spot is direct ownership, while Crypto Futures are leveraged contracts with liquidation risk. If you hedge spot holdings with Crypto Futures, check both tabs to understand your combined position.

  • Crypto tab (spot): Reflects the crypto assets you directly own, valued at the current market price, with no leverage or margin involved. USDT isn't counted in the Crypto value; it appears on its own USDT line and counts as cash.
  • Crypto Futures tab: Reflects your Crypto Futures activity, including Margin & USDT Value, unrealised and realised profit or loss, and your open positions, which stay in USDT.
  • One total: Both tabs feed the same Portfolio Value on the Overview tab, where Crypto Futures also has its own card in the Asset Class Allocation section. Margin wallet balance that isn't backing a position counts as cash.
  • Check both when hedging: If you're hedging spot holdings with Crypto Futures, reviewing both tabs gives you a clearer picture of your overall crypto exposure than looking at either one alone.
  • Different risk profiles by design: Spot holdings can only lose the value you paid for them, while Crypto Futures positions carry liquidation risk on top of price risk, a distinction worth keeping in mind when you read each tab's numbers.

Related questions:

Q: Where can I see my open Crypto Futures positions on Pluang?
On your Portfolio page, go to Assets and choose the Crypto Futures tab. It lists your open positions in USDT, together with your Margin & USDT Value and your unrealised and realised profit or loss. Crypto Futures also has its own card on the Overview tab, so you can see its value next to your other asset classes. There is no longer a separate Futures portfolio or a Spot/Futures toggle.

Q: Does the Crypto Futures tab show the assets I own outright?
No. The Crypto Futures tab covers your Crypto Futures margin and positions, which are leveraged contracts rather than coins you own. The spot coins you own outright are on the Crypto tab, while your USDT balance counts as cash. Both tabs, together with your other assets and cash, make up your Portfolio Value on the Overview tab.

Q: If I hedge my spot holdings with a Crypto Futures position, will they show up in the same portfolio?
Yes, in the same portfolio, but on different tabs. Your spot coins appear on the Crypto tab and your hedge position on the Crypto Futures tab, and both count toward the same Portfolio Value. To judge how well the hedge offsets your spot holdings, compare the profit or loss on both tabs, because each tab only shows its own side of the trade.

Q: Are Spot and Futures results brought together?
Yes. Since the latest portfolio update, Crypto Futures counts toward your Portfolio Value alongside your spot holdings, and the results of your closed Crypto Futures positions count toward the main Realized P&L figure on your portfolio, rather than sitting only in a separate Futures tab. Spot and Crypto Futures still have separate tabs under Assets, because spot is direct ownership while Crypto Futures are leveraged USDT-margined contracts.
