Zoox has issued a software recall for its fleet of 105 robotaxis after one vehicle struggled to navigate a smoke-filled emergency fire scene in June. The incident, which involved heavy smoke obscuring the scene, caused the vehicle to brake hard and stop, requiring a teleoperator to reverse it away so first responders could secure the area. No injuries were reported, and Zoox has shipped a software update to address the issue. This recall follows previous ones related to braking and collision incidents, as Zoox expands testing and prepares for a commercial launch pending regulatory approval.
