Goldman Sachs and Apollo seek investors for SpaceX's $40B AI chip financing, shifting obsolescence risk to buyers.

Goldman Sachs and Apollo Global Management are reportedly arranging investors to take portions of a $40 billion financing deal for SpaceX's AI chip purchases, specifically NVIDIA Vera Rubin chips. The deal involves a lease structure where SpaceX pays fixed rent without guaranteeing residual value, meaning investors assume the risk of the chips becoming obsolete. This financing supports SpaceX's massive AI infrastructure expansion, which generated $7.6 billion of its $14.6 billion Q3 revenue. The success of this investment depends on stable spot market rates for computing power and the closing of the lease by the end of 2026.

SpaceX shares are trading at USD 123.74 on Pluang, down 8.96% as of Nov 05, 2026 22:21 WIB. Goldman Sachs, involved in arranging the financing, is priced at USD 879.45 with a 5.23% decline on the same date. Nvidia, whose AI chips are central to the deal, is at USD 185.89, down 7.12%, reflecting cautious sentiment in related stocks.
