Uber has partnered with Hertz's new subsidiary, Oro Mobility, to scale its autonomous robotaxi and driver-led rideshare programs. Oro Mobility will manage fleet operations including charging, maintenance, and staffing for Uber's autonomous vehicles, starting in the San Francisco Bay Area by the end of 2026, with plans to expand in 2027. For driver-led services, Oro will provide vehicles and drivers, building on pilot programs in Atlanta, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, now extending to Northern New Jersey. This collaboration supports Uber's transition to a mixed network of autonomous and driver-operated rideshares, enhancing service quality and operational efficiency.
