Google cuts quantum computing errors 40x, advancing tech but Bitcoin remains secure for now.

Google's Quantum AI team achieved a 40-fold reduction in errors on its Willow quantum processor using a technique called magic state cultivation, improving quantum state reliability essential for universal quantum computing. Despite this progress, current quantum computers still lack the qubit count and stability to break Bitcoin's cryptographic security, which relies on ECDSA signatures. The milestone marks an experimental step toward future quantum machines but does not pose an immediate threat to Bitcoin. However, the eventual arrival of powerful quantum computers (Q-Day) could compromise Bitcoin's security, making the transition to post-quantum cryptography necessary to protect funds in the long term.

Google's quantum computing milestone comes as 47 of 50 major cryptocurrencies on Pluang rose today.
