Tether's USDT stablecoin returns to Bitcoin with private transfers and BTC-backed loans via Utexo.

Tether's USDT, the largest stablecoin by market cap, is returning to the Bitcoin network this month through Utexo, a Tether-backed project. Utexo will enable private USDT transfers, direct swaps between Bitcoin and USDT, and loans backed by Bitcoin, while keeping most transaction data off Bitcoin's public ledger using the RGB protocol and UTXO model. Unlike Ethereum or Tron, this approach enhances privacy and security by keeping transaction details off-chain. Utexo also plans to blacklist illicit UTXOs instead of freezing addresses and aims to expand USDT use to Bitcoin's Lightning Network for faster, cheaper payments in the future.

Tether's USDT is trading at Rp17.878 on Pluang as of Oct 02, 2026 15:41 WIB, showing a slight 1-day decline of 0.39%. Despite this small dip, USDT maintains a substantial market cap of Rp3.290,77 trillion and a high 24-hour trading volume of Rp1.529,78 trillion, indicating strong liquidity and active trading. The typical hold time of 89 days and a buy order activity of 59% suggest steady investor interest in USDT amid its return to the Bitcoin network.
