Tether froze $1.5B in USDT linked to Binance hack, but delays in freezing raise timing questions.

Tether froze over $1.5 billion in USDT connected to Binance's October 29 hack, but blockchain data shows the first major freeze happened 37 minutes after the largest transfer of 1.6 billion USDT. The freeze process spanned across Ethereum, TRON, and Avalanche networks, totaling about $1.56 billion frozen. The FBI attributed the hack to North Korean actors, with Binance estimating losses of $6.3 billion, which it plans to cover using its Secure Asset Fund and corporate funds. The timing discrepancy in Tether's freeze raises questions about the speed of response to such hacks in the crypto space.

Tether's USDT holds a market cap of Rp3.259,77 trillion on Pluang, with a slight 0.06% price decrease as of Nov 03, 2026 06:02 WIB. Despite the reported freeze of $1.56 billion USDT linked to the Binance hack, USDT's trading volume remains high at Rp994,57 trillion over 24 hours. Binance Coin (BNB) shows a price decline of 1.21%, trading at Rp12.679.355, with more buyers than sellers on Pluang, reflecting ongoing market interest amid security concerns.
