Tech earnings beat expectations but AI spending concerns hit stocks like Meta and Lam Research.

S&P 500 tech earnings are strong, with profits tracking 29.5% growth and 82% of companies beating estimates last week. However, the market reacted negatively to increased AI spending concerns, causing Meta to drop 7% after raising its capital expenditure guidance and Lam Research to fall 12% on cautious outlooks. The Nasdaq also slid 6%. The Direxion Daily Technology Bull 3X ETF has shown extraordinary long-term gains but with significant volatility and drawdowns. Historical data suggests that timing volatility conditions has not improved gains for this ETF, and while it often rises from late October to year-end, it can also experience large losses.

Meta Platforms trades at USD 614.99 on Pluang as of Oct 31, 2026 17:31 WIB, down 1.53% for the day and closer to its 52-week low of USD 525.72 than its high of USD 777.59. Lam Research is priced at USD 239.11, down 6.01%, and significantly below its 52-week high of USD 433.33 but above its low of USD 139.59. This contrast highlights Meta's relatively smaller daily decline compared to Lam Research, reflecting differing investor reactions within the tech sector during this mixed earnings period.
