SpaceX aims to buy Boost Mobile to build a hybrid cellular-satellite network in the US.

SpaceX is reportedly seeking to acquire Boost Mobile from EchoStar to enhance its hybrid cellular-satellite network. This move would help SpaceX, owned by Elon Musk, expand its Starlink service by gaining access to terrestrial cellular networks, improving coverage especially indoors and in areas where satellite signals are weak. Boost Mobile's existing leases with AT&T and T-Mobile provide a significant network footprint across the contiguous US, which is critical for SpaceX's goal to become a top wireless provider. However, the deal faces challenges as major carriers like AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon have declined Musk's requests for network capacity, and they may need to approve the transfer of Boost Mobile's network leases, which are typically nontransferable.

As of Nov 03, 2026 00:01 WIB, AT&T shares trade near their 52-week low at USD 21.47, contrasting with T-Mobile's price of USD 158.65, which remains below its 52-week high of USD 221.98. Verizon sits between them at USD 45.07, closer to its 52-week high of USD 51.45. This pricing context highlights the competitive landscape SpaceX aims to enter by acquiring Boost Mobile, which currently leases networks from these major carriers.
