South Korean financial firm Shinhan Asset Management has introduced a pilot tokenized fund on the Solana blockchain, denominated in Korean won and focused on ultra-short-term bonds for offshore investors. This project replicates BlackRock's successful BUIDL fund model, aiming to capture part of the expected $30 trillion global tokenization market by 2030. Shinhan partnered with Solana Foundation, Etherfuse, and Orca to test the full operational cycle including KYC, AML, and FX compliance. While currently offshore due to regulatory timelines in South Korea, Shinhan is preparing infrastructure for domestic trading once security token offering rules take effect in February 2027.
