Solana Foundation's validator lead Tim Garcia advised validators using Ubuntu to implement temporary network mitigations due to a Linux kernel vulnerability (CVE-2026-98432) that Ubuntu has not yet patched. Although the kernel flaw itself has been fixed, Ubuntu users remain without an official update. Validators are recommended to block inbound TCP packets with IPv4 options and disable Multipath TCP and TCP request socket migration until Ubuntu releases a patch. This guidance is specific to Ubuntu-running validators and aims to protect network security in the interim.
