Symbiosis Bitcoin Bridge hacked, 46.1B fake tokens made, $336K stolen, 15 BTC recovered, bounty offered

On September 11, 2026, Symbiosis's Bitcoin Bridge was exploited to create about 46.1 billion unbacked synthetic Bitcoin tokens (syBTC). The attacker liquidated only around 4.39 wrapped BTC for roughly $336,000 before the breach was detected. Symbiosis recovered about 15 BTC (worth $1.15 million) and suspended Bitcoin routing while keeping other services operational. They offered the attacker a white-hat bounty of 20% of stolen funds, with a deadline of September 13, and plan compensation for affected liquidity providers. This is the third recent Bitcoin bridge exploit, following similar attacks on Liquid Network and Nomic.
